I remember watching Shaun of the Dead with my OH in the early years of our relationship and discovering she wasn’t into silly movies as she put it so we never made it to the end but we did end up making out so it wasn’t all lost!!! Have watched it since and I love it but I couldn’t pick a favourite as I thought they were all brilliant in their own way!!

Shaun of the Dead and Paul are my favourites of their films.

We accidentaly took our 8yr old to watch Paul. He’d been nagging us and we had no idea what we were going to see other than it being about and Alien in sunglasses and a cowboy hat. We spent the evening swinging between crying/laughing and thinking we were the most irresponsible parents in the world.

Hot Fuzz - was ok. Some great moments but overall not my favourite.

Worlds End - no. Really didn’t enjoy this.

Man Shaun of the dead was one of favourites, hot fuzz was brilliant, as a guy who used to be a police officer it’s comically accurate to the types you can come across in the job :joy:

I wanted to work for the police and my step uncle is a retired riot cop, so I’ve certainly heard some stories :joy:

See I’m from a family of them, firearms mainly, however it wasn’t for me, too much red tape and repetitive paperwork wasn’t where I wanted to be at 19. You have to really want it I think, for me it was just expected of me lol

Yep, exactly what my uncle said too. He said part of the reason some cops don’t rush to catch some suspects is because they just don’t want to handle the paperwork. Firearms though? That’s a very tough unit to be in. I had to support some of the guys from Avon & Somerset constabulary once after my neighbour attempted suicide — he refused to talk to anyone apart from his friend or me, and I was closest. I’ve never forgotten having two armed officers knock on my door though, not how my usual Saturday goes lol.

Wow that’s a trial by fire! Fair play for stepping up though, tough situation to navigate! Yes, very fit, tough hours but exposed to absolutely horrendous things, my father’s a firearms instructor now, Monday to Friday, he’s got it very nice now :joy:

The funniest part was they were just like “right, it’s cool. He’s got no knives, we’ve taken them all” and just left him to have a cup of tea with me. Cheers then! Lol. It’s a bit of an add situation because many would say he’s sweet on me. He’s always been very friendly with me and will do absolutely anything for me, even if he categorically denies any interest.

:joy: I mean, that’s crazy :joy: but atleast you were there I guess lol there’s loads of crazy things you see and come across, biggest shock was how some people live lol, you should just apply

It was a bit of a shock considering I’ve had no formal training in crisis management :joy: oh I can imagine that, we had a drug den closed down next to to us about a year ago now and the ASB officer involved was very frank about the state of the place :joy: haha I think if I stopped doing what I do and applied to join the police, quite a few people would be after my guts

I get that! My work is very different from what I used to do so it’s usually kept to myself :joy: I did manage to sneak some of the uniform away though so not all gone and forgotten

I thought they take that back when you retire? Shows what I know! :joy:
