The Great Pub Quiz Game Thread

They’re really varied questions. I didn’t have a clue about a lot of them. And a few I narrowed down, but then guessed the wrong one. It’s interesting to see who got what though. :slightly_smiling_face:

@VanillaWithSprinkles still has half to do, so I wouldn’t get too comfy up there just yet. :slightly_smiling_face: And @Ace12345 popped her head in, so she might be good for a gazump. :slightly_smiling_face:

Piecing together a few bits and bobs, I found a couple of the instructions. One is a Genus Edition, dated 2001, and the other the 20th Anniversary one, 2004. There’s also another old style board and questions in there that looks/smells quite a bit older. That’s the box they’re all stuffed in, and that has ©1983 printed on it. No instructions, so not sure if that’s accurate. This one says it’s a Master Game Genus Edition.

So, there you go. :slightly_smiling_face: I apologise if some of the questions seem outdated.

I think i might copy down the questions and have a go tomorrow, I’ve got a long car trip so it could be a good way to pass it

Just a warning, I’ve been looking at the questions while copying (since the forum doesn’t work on mobile data) and I’m pretty sure I’m going to do terrible :joy: (even science has betrayed me)

Me too - That was hard but which railway station is near the London Eye is Geography not Science and I think I proved my Geography is not great… though better than History!

Ended up spending this eve with friends so will have a proper go at the rest after work tomorrow!

It’s a trivial pursuit compilation charity shop special. We’re lucky we’ve not been sucked into some wacky Jumanji style general knowledge shenanigans. :slightly_smiling_face:

And I shall leave the answers until everyone’s caught up. :+1:

Was 10/60 questions too many? Would people prefer 5/30?

  • 5 per category, 30 questions total
  • 10 per category, 60 questions total
  • Enough. No weekly Hump Day Quiz
0 voters

I should admit I changed my vote between 5 and 10 a few times. I really don’t mind, I went 10 in the hope of knowing 1 question in each category! A lot of work for you though and a lot of questions each week so 5 probably is better.

I can live with some slightly dodge category to question links but if there is an option of wacky Jumanji style general knowledge questions where we all get sucked into jungle I’d love a go at that too please

I’m happy with either 5 or 10, I voted 5 because I thought that might be easier for you

Actually, as it’s just typing them out, I’d say it’s about the same amount of effort as making a single 10 question one from scratch. :slightly_smiling_face: And the Scoreboard is about as much effort for 60 as it is for 30. But I don’t want to create a millstone of a game that people will tire of too quickly. :slightly_smiling_face:

I could do 5/30 a week, and then maybe a special ‘First Wednesday of the Month’ bumper one with 10/60?

I think if I can work out a way we can all use the original board while we play then there’s a good chance this might happen. I can’t promise a jungle, but maybe some kind of demented library maze where each question comes alive when asked. :slightly_smiling_face:

Go 5/30 next week and decide which works better and which you prefer, I would just like to say thank you for doing it!

Also…
I look forward to the elephants charging down the book stacks at some stage! :elephant::rhinoceros:

I think keep them 5 to 10. As i had visitors, work etc i couldn’t tackle them until yesterday, then the forum wouldn’t let me complete the categories in one hit, due to the three replies max rule!

One note, ever found a triv mistake? I remember the question “What state is Clark Kent’s home of Smallville in?” The answer was something like Ohio, but i think it’s Kansas.

You can edit a second/third/fourth set of answers into one post if you hit a snag. :+1:

I’ve found a couple before, but there are probably a lot more I haven’t noticed. :slightly_smiling_face:

I did think of that, but didn’t want to complicate things!

Probably makes life easier for @Ian_Chimp as less jumping about to find everyone’s answers. I might try this next week… maybe into a couple of posts if I don’t have time to do all in one go :+1:

I was adding categories on the fly last time, so it all got a bit muddled up, but I still found everyone’s answers. :+1: (though I’m counting on you all to check my marking when the answers arrive :slightly_smiling_face:).

The next set of questions will be neater in one post, and then all your answers will follow after. So I should find them pretty easily whether you have one post for all, or add a new post for each set of answers as you go, or just edit your new batch of answers into your original. :+1::slightly_smiling_face:
