So sorry for your loss, i know how hard it is. We’re on our 4th rescue dog, and they have all been wonderful. But making the big decision is always hard. ![]()

I’m sorry to read that. It really is the worst part but the ultimate kindness. Big hugs lovely ![]()
It’s a kindness to them but so hard to do when they are loved so much. I have had the same responsibility with several of our cats all of which were character’s in their own rights ![]()
British people don’t like being told what to do, and were already familiar with the imperial system, so there was much reluctance to adopt the metric system. Less than 20 years ago, people were literally prepared to go to prison to defend the right to sell bananas in pounds and ounces.
Also, the metric system is French. We still haven’t forgiven them for 1066.
Another divisive topic. I would certainly address a Scottish person as Scottish and not British. Just as I’m Irish and not British, although that is a different thing altogether being from N.Ireland.
I used to open banking products as a job and never had a Welsh person declare their nationality as British, very few Scots would’ve said British and the majority of people in England declared themselves English. Anyone in N.Ireland was always just awkward ![]()
Obviously this is just my experience, and people on the forum have their own views and opinions on their own nationality. I’m certainly not going to dictate what they are.
Oh… hang on JoCat. We aren’t getting into politics and culture, just having a bit of fun with language differences in this discussion.
It wasn’t me that brought it up, I just expanded on it ![]()
And British language is culture ![]()
As an Englishman living in Scotland, I’m aware of the divisive nature of British identity. My point really is that by “Brit” what was clearly meant was “Englishman”, and about 10 years ago, 55% of Scots voted to remain British. All Scots are Brits, even if 45% of them don’t want to be.
I totally and full heartedly apologize if I have touched on any unexpected social or political issues. My intent was just to have a little fun and bickering over pronunciation. I suggest mods just close this discussion and we all move on.
Or, just simply move on…
Just picked up on the end of this thread… im Scottish , but whenever asked my nationality on a form etc, I would always say British. That’s whats on my passport, not Scottish.
That doesnt mean im not proud to be Scottish.
@MsSubExperimenter Thats a lovely gesture from the vet and would be a lovely visual reminder for you, I hope you decide to plant it ![]()
For our quiz show loving members including @MsSubExperimenter and @KinkyMira Richard Osman’s House of Games this week has a lot of butt plugs on set! ![]()
Ooh, need to keep an eye out for that!
Have this one, in fact loved it that much have bought it twice. Practical and super sexy, the material feels divine against the skin.
Could not agree more with your review @For_Your_Eyes_Only_x ![]()
Hey, just shuffled this one here to keep the review thread for reviews ![]()
I would listen to this @Peitho but that song is like nails down a chalkboard to me ![]()
Doesn’t matter which version, it just makes me tense up and puts me in a foul mood. I’ve been known to turn around and walk straight back out of shops if it’s playing ![]()
I don’t know what it is about that particular song, but there you go ![]()
Fair enough, I absolutely get what you’re saying. Her updated lyrics do make it a lot less cringy (and a lot more funny though) though!
Brief excerpt for you so you don’t have to listen:
Don’t want diamonds, cash, or stars
Nothing that comes in a box
No more fluff, I’ve had enough
And I can buy my own damn stuff!
@Peitho … Hi, i just had a look at the photos you posted of scenes from the farm, where you work.
I dont know if you are old enough to remember, Follyfoot.
Your posts of around the farm remind me of the TV series.
This is the theme tune.
Never seen the tv show I’m afraid… though, weirdly, the theme tune is strangely familiar so I must have heard it somewhere. I did, however, read all the books when I was a kid and absolutely loved them - maybe they inspired the rest of my life!
