I heard about that. Being British and not that big on politics I wasn’t sure who Charlie Kirk was, but however you feel in politics, I don’t agree with resorting to violence, especially not when innocents (and apparently his family) will now live with the memory. I do hope the offender is bought to justice.
@Tenshadesandme… absolutelycorrect.
Mrs W here ….
Yep, @Latino_Caliente usually Pen drives to her office but frequently she has to go to a meeting elsewhere….edited by mod. hope your day went well and that you and Mrs LC have a nice evening, love xxx
Maybe 40+ years ago…. ![]()
That would have been so cool
Mrs @Wurger and none of the neighbours would have known!! xxx
A great city @rockstar, lived there most my life bar the last 9 years but still a regular visitor
Mrs W here ……
As I have said previously, the boys get little treats now and then either as an incentive or, as in this case a thank you for the efforts they have put in over and above usual work… they have pushed through an enormous amount of work this past week without any errors @steve19 …… so everybody wins in the longer run. In the short term, they get a tiny thank you from boss-woman (little old me)…. Love xxxx
Oh its alright for some, isn’t it?
While we are suffering the onset of Autumn, there you are soaking up the sun @Latino_Caliente …… anyway, you enjoy it and hope your day went well love xx
Ha ha….Mrs @Wurger but it isn’t always that enjoyable!
Seriously, we don’t get as hot as central Spain. During July and August, they are in the low to mid 40’s degrees C, and that is scorchio!
We have had low to mid 30’s this year as we are right on the coast, but the humidity goes up. We haven’t had any rain since March and the reservoirs are currently at 50% capacity, which is better than last year.
As @Iwill can testify, the temperatures are more comfortable now and we still have the blue sky. The sea is cooling down, so it’s “refreshing” when going for a swim now. There are far less crowds now as the Madridians have gone back to work. Over the next couple of months, it gets very quiet here, which is lovely, but we do miss the snow at Christmas. But, if we want that, the Sierra Nevada mountains ski resort is an hours drive away, and it beautiful there in the winter. xx
Mrs W here…..
Do the people of Madrid all have holidays at the same time then @Latino_Caliente love? xx
@Wurger it sounds like wakes weeks
Yes, Mrs @Wurger,
For almost all of August, Spain “shuts down”. Even hospitals go short staffed and plan not to do operations etc. Obviously A&E is still running 24/7, but care is dialled back. Cars stay parked in the streets for a month gathering dust, so parking is a nightmare here!!
Then after the first weekend in September….they all go again, like migrating birds!! xxx
Mrs W here ….
Thank you for the explanation @Latino_Caliente ….. Is it because of the intense heat love? xx
Yes @Mel3 just like the old Wakes Weeks in some parts “up Norf” love xx
I’m hoping to shave the parts around where I cannot get to in the bath. Buy using the one blade razor cause of the vibration it give me.. Aslo back to hygiene part clean and tidy.
@MARSH34C I’ve moved your post to the lounge, which is for general interaction rather than it being a topic of its own.
I prity try any of them.
Mrs W here … had to post here because the other thread is in “slow mode” - just like me on a Monday ……
Morning All, not nice, bit blowy but at least not raining…yet … luckily got Penlift and she kissed and waved me off from the Platform …. in view of the windy and wet weather forecast for later today I got a LH white lace body, knee-length red wool socks, sheer white nylon blouse with lace trim, black skirt just below knee but with front/side split, large hoop earrings, red high heels, Rive Gauche …… emails all done, all teas drunk, went out and phoned Pen – she is driving to her office and well happy, picked up replacement teas on way back in, put on red silk choker …. As it’s such a rotten morning, tell somebody you love ‘em, make their day …. But please make sure you stay safe, because we love you All xxxx
Yes, Mrs @Wurger, exactly that, as well as the fact that a lot of inland city dwellers have second homes on the coast. They leave the cities in the summer because the offices close for August. The Spanish do not have the flexibility like we do in the UK to take their holidays “willy nilly”, so it’s a mass exodus to coasts, which is good for the restaurants and bars (very hard work though)
@batjamboree You must notice the seasonal differences where you stay? xx
Have a great day @Wurger its certainly windy and wet up North. Stay safe especially on them trains.
@Latino_Caliente - as I’m new I did not notice any significant changes
Good morning @batjamboree
Ah, I didn’t realise your trips there only started recently. Once you start going at different times of the year, you will see much less people out of season.
I think you said you return in November? ![]()
