Tinkerbell

Firstly I'm not a weirdo, has anyone noticed how cartoon characters have become more sexy looking, like Tinkerbell in her new movie? and so to show I'm not biased on tv last night there was a Disney film(advertised) who's lead male clearly had a large "amount" up front.

I'm sure the kids don't see it that way, but are the makers doing it so we take the kids to the movies subconciously?

Disney has been accused by many conspiracy theorists of incorporating sexual (and other questionable) imagery into its stuff.

If you Google "Walt Disney Corporation conspiracy theory", I think you'll find it quite interesting!

Personally I've always found Disney and a lot of their content to be kinda sinister, although that's probably just me.

Maybe it's because everything's become more sexualised and that's reflected in Disney's portrayals? I'd guess that video games are setting the standard of expectations for animation in general, so maybe Disney's following suit, probably even using some of the same animators?

Eye candy for the mums is probably a factor too. It will be affecting the kids though. Anything we put in front of our eyes repeatedly does.

Interesting question. What's new might be more overtly sexualised male figures, they've been doing it with female leads for ages. IMO the most damaging thing is probably their tendency to use physical appearance as a way of signaling who we're supposed to really really like and who we're supposed to root against.

It isn't just the characters looks! I watched a few Pixar/Disney films recently, and spotted quite a few 'adult jokes' in them! Which I'd of never noticed in younger years, until now! Maybe it is becuase I work here at Lovehoney and I notice 'sex related' things more, I don't know, ha!

It's not just you! They've been doing it for years, but it's always very subtle... not obvious enough for the kids to notice, but a sly wink and a nod to the adults watching.

They have definitely had adult jokes in the Disney movies for years. Because I have the watched moves like toy story and shrek with my kids which where movies I watched as an early teenager and I have noticed jokes I would never have noticed before .

I'm not complaining, hehe I think its funny! Sneaky sneaky cheeky

I know this isn't Disney but

The flora ad wrestlers... about two kids making toast for mum and they walk upstairs and find mum and dad wrestling in bed... then talk about how mum says they aren't allowed to wrestle but she seems pretty good at it with dad, and covers the little brothers eyes...
I don't get how the ad is meant to make me think butter :/

I hate that advert, it makes me cringe!

I don't get that advert either, especially why the older child covers the younger childs eyes. Plus i cant help but think how the toast they sit down to at the table fully dressed after must be cold.

Yes Tinkerbell has always been sexy but in her last zillion films *sigh* silly moneymaking producers... Yes she's been rather sexy in them all, with a lot of leg and cleavage and almost bum flashes, you know...

I read somewhere that in the new disney film Frozen, the ice queen has the biggest boobs to date for a Disney lead? Also in Toy Story, I never noticed but I watched it on tv a few weeks back and the toys were all saying that Woody had laser envy of Buzz... *Sniggers* I think those slipped-in jokes for the adults are the funniest :D

Another ad

the muppets subway ad miss piggy says to Constantine your not my sub.... its subtle but the wording makes me think of spanking not sandwiches :/

To be fair, the evolution of Barbie is some what similar, over the years the designers have given Barbie more face lifts than Miss Collins, and more breast adjustments than the average glamour model.

Back to Disney, they maybe glamourising the animated characters, yet still, even with the acquistion of Pixar, Disney has found a partner also devoted to killing and breaking the lead characters parents. Poor Bambi, abandoned by his father, then only to watch his mother fall to the hunters rifle. Nemo, raised by a single parent, as are Ariel(Little Mermaid) and Belle (Beauty and the Beast), and even more recent, Andy from Toy Story is missing a father. Then Snow White and Cinderella also had no blood mother, whilst dumbo's mother was locked up after his father abandoned them. Tarzan and Mowgil (jungle book) were just staright out orphaned from the start.

Amanda, how did I forget simba, even accused if killing his dad
