last night i had the chance to play with my Thrust Pro Gigi stroker during a longer shower session,
i washed it straight away after use by using the shower and some LH Fresh toy cleaner, currently after rinsing my usual routine is to shake the inner sleeve as best as possible to aid in removing as much remaining water as possible before patting down the exterior of the sleeve and then placing it onto a lint free microfiber to air dry..
I’ve come to apply some cornstarch this morning and still found the interior of the sleeve to be slightly damp..
does anyone have any tips for helping to dry the sleeves interior quicker so as to help reduce the chances of mold and bacteria build up?
My way of drying is to just stand it vertically and give it time preferably on towel on a radiator or if in a rush with a hairdryer on low setting As @Toy_Fan has suggested, or as @Bigiain has said turn it inside out if you can @Luke881
I don’t own a sleeve like that, but I knew someone who did and just turned it inside out to dry. Good quality silicone will stretch and won’t rip if you are gentle.
Do you have time and freedom to just leave it out to dry? If so stand it on end after you have washed and shaken the majority of the water out o if you have heating on it done in hours otherwise I’d say 8hrs
We live in the countryside and leaving one of those out damp for 8hrs guarantees mold and you don’t want that getting into your urethra.
If he can’t get a heating rod, like this, then just shoving it full of microwaveable silica gel sachets will speed it up. Or pushing paper towels through with a pen while he squeezes it will get the worst out of the crevices.
I play the flute and I have a cleaning rod thing you shove through it to get the condensation out (from your breath) maybe something like that would work? It’s meant to go down a narrow tube.
a flute cleaning rod (usually plastic, wood, or bamboo) paired with a cleaning cloth, gauze, or swab. This combination removes moisture from the bore to prevent damage to the pads (from google)
Back in the day I used to play an Irish blackwood flute. Loved the tone. Sadly age and covid put paid. I used to use a cleaning rod and rag to coat it in almond oil. It gave it such a delicious smell.
edit: Yikes. Just checked its case and the brass has gone green. And it wasn’t a rod, it was a thin knitting needle and it wasn’t a rag, it was a chamois! Old school.
Sorry , buy I never thought to take the sleeve out to the car radiator ! Just kidding . Only the oldest houses in the US have radiators , so automotive is my brains go to when I hear or read radiator . But. the word used often that drives me crazy is knickers , my mind pictures 1800s golf pants or even older female under garments . Not sexy panties . Sorry , those two get me every time .
