=Torture Garden=

I know there are threads for cubs but I thought this one deserved one all by itself.

Here's a Time Out article if it's news to you: http://www.timeout.com/london/features/2242/Torture_Garden.html

I've never been but show of hands who has? I'm also hoping Hella Rouge will share some tales...

From what I've heard on the grapevine, I'm aways struck by people reporting their cubbing experience to be respectful, inclusive, polite and most of all, fabulous. I wasn't suprised because of the nature of TG but because of the experience I've had at your run-of- the-mill night club. (Every girl has experienced some horrors. Usually when the rugby team hits the town. Ick)

Any attendees? And more importantly, what did you wear?

I wish I was young again! :D Looks ace.

Pretty young lookin' knees to me, Tronic!

why thank you! but alas - they are leathery tree trunks of translucent jelly. I don't catch the sun very well it seems.

AdnaW is confused, me too... you mentioned 'cubs' and 'cubbing', did you mean clubbing or are we completely missing something?

Oh welly boot.

Can some lovely person at LH edit me? Is that possible?

Cubs are only relevant when it's a Bear club in question.

The Urban dictionary failed to enlighten me about cubs beyond the bear clubs of which you speak, but I didn't think it possible one one of this countrie's supa cleverestests at one Britain's elite institutions taking an English course could spell club wrong twice in the same post... Tut, the Daily Mail were right...External Media... Or we could keep both our reputations intact by blaming your meds and leaving my in my unpopped lefty liberal bubble?External Media

You have heard of Bears? Yes?

No?

Ah, clickety: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twQlpFrm5iM

Cubs are the opposite of bears on the scene. One of the Bear Force One members runs a very successful Bear club in Ireland now.

Don't be fooled by the Oxbridge hearsay, we are the elite (naturally) but we're f*cked when it comes to common sense things like typing and map reading. I recently watched a male friend try to peel fruit the other day. A genius he may be but it was like watching a octopus try to crack a nut.

That said it *is* my year off and I am rusty.

Yep about the bears, we had a host 'bear' at a burlesque show! Complete with real (fake) ears!

We all make mistakes TL! Even those great institutions!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Griffin#Early_life_and_education .

Your not gonna be the next BNP leader are you? A Hitler moustache wouldn't go with those legs!

(and yes AdnaW conveniently pointed out my mistakes in my post, well I guess my excuse is I'm not at Oxbridge and I'm doing philosophy!)

I would go in my lime green cords and lairy shirt, it used to get me into goth nights at various places, I think they were laughing at me, not with me, but I didn't care, the beer was cheap and plentiful and the atmosphere intense! :)

On second thoughts Nex is probably right, would need proper attire to get in I expect. :(

id love to go if i got the chance, though think id probably get turned away

Ok, getting back on track, has anyone considered goin to the TG? I'm very tempted but don't know if I would be allowed in as I don't own any fetish clothing LOL

Same here. I don't have anything even close to being considered fetish clothing. Plus clubbing isn't really my thing anyway. It still sounds somewhat interesting, even just to go and perve on scantily clad (and hopefully) women =P

Surely this is overtime Hella?

Vomit... Not my scene by the sounds of it...

Am I right in thinking Torture Garden are responsible for the Erotica Ball?

It certainly sounds similar and was definately a great night out...all sorts of weird, wonderful and kinky things going on including a shibari show in a cage, fettish porn on a huge flat screen, public floggings, random sex acts in dark corners (and some in full view!).

Didn't sustain any serious injuries except some vicious blisters from wearing stripper heels all night then walking home barefoot in the pouring rain!

I know some attendees and they've loved it! I've never yet gone, but I'm tempted to go completely covered up in all of my Steampunk attire and see what happens LOL My original costume is getting a bit tattered now anyway so a bit of ripping and tearing wouldn't be that bad... ;-)

Aha!! A friend of mine's into steampunk and was telling me about it and I thought you might be into it because of the outfits youve worn and posted as your profile pic! Glad I was right!

Aww cool!! yeah, my friend's interested in it. Not so much the clothing but the art and things and the basic concept.

It was a good night out. Circus theme, cabaret, pole dancers galore and a variety of rooms to explore depending on your own tastes. Couples room was well suscribed - my partner and I made good use of it, as did many others. Probably not for the Daily Mail brigade what with all those people having sex, but still...

Almost all these events are very welcoming - certainly any you'll read about in Time Out. There's very little discrimination on age, size, colour, disability. I saw an old chap - who must have been in his 80's participating in something or another before getting back into his mobility scooter (seriously!), and people with various other disabilities were there. Plenty of bright young things poured into their latex garments (myself included). You probably will see things that shock or surprise you, or make you feel a little quesy (people being piereced can be a bit much for some folks), but for anyting like that, go in the other direction. Problem solved!

A bit of fetish gear needn't cost the earth - if you're interested lookup the London Fetish Fair, or search for the term 'munch'. And, in case you're concerned, it's perfectly acceptable to go along just for the dressing up. No-one is going to tie you up and beat you the moment you arrive ;-)

It's true what you say about fetish gear not needing to cost the Earth... I love seeing people who have put together more outrageous, unique, home-made outfits based around the basic black latex staples...

I've never been to TG but had heard that lately it was more of a fashion "be seen" place rather than an indulge your fantasies place.

I'm glad to see some more positive comments on it here.

That's the thing though...I don't think I'd suit ANY fetish stuff :-\

Then go completely naked, or with a feather boa.

That's part of what I spoke about since the character I portray and all of the ones who do characters with me come from a Steampunk novel I wrote ^_^'

But you can wear Steampunk stuff there can you?? Wonder if that might be a route for my OH... mind you, Lord knows what I'm going to wear either External Media I too don't think I will be squeezing my ample self into any rubber or latex for Erotica! I also want to cover my pins up really... no idea what to wear, but going to worry about it near the time I think!
