Been reading recently about traction devices in order to help reduce curviture of the male member. Has anyone had any first hand experience with using any of these?
I’m afraid no direct experience, but have read about them being potentially useful for increasing length so interested in responses….
The main issue with these devices, at least in terms of using them to increase length, is the length of time they need to be worn for.
The last ones i looked at needed to be worn for 5+ hours each day.
I believe from what i recall looking on the manufacturers website is they have a suggestion for a 6 week plan that increases it by 1 hour each week. I also recall them saying you can progress and do it up to 12 hours
Usually curvature of the penis can be cause from excessive masturbating or through puberty where the skin either thickens or don’t progress with the rest of body growing…
One common treatment think I read somewhere was to have a prescription for steroid cream to help thin the skin allowing it to then have exercises to stretch till corrected in mild cases.
If it’s like an extreme curve then you’ll be looking at possible surgery or cosmetic injections to help loosen and break down the skin tissue causing the curving.
Maybe what you’re referring to might do well as an accompaniment to the steroid cream?
Potentially. Ive read about the creams and have thought about getting it checked, but to me the idea of surgery is putting me off.
I dont know whether mine is considered excessive, but i did end up buying the device, so might give it a go over a few months and see if anything noticible changes
Yeah any surgery is scary but depends how extreme your curvature is and how it effects you daily… I’ve seen a few videos in the past with the procedures they can do which seem fairly straightforward with minimal discomfort.
I’d say excessive is somewhere around a 90° bend…
Still worth seeing your doctor though if it’s on your mind and ask if the steroid creams would be of any help.
There might even be some procedures now that just involves a few injections.
I tried a traction device for that very reason, didn’t do anything. In the end I had surgery and haven’t looked back.
Note there are 2 different types of curves, congenital and trauma. Congenital means you are born with it, basically one side of the penis is longer than the other, and this causes the curve. The only cure is surgery. Trauma based means the penis was damaged and a build up of scar tissue prevents a part of the penis from elongating (peyronies disease). Traction may help to stretch the scar tissue, but again surgery may be the only viable optiion.
If you go down the surgery route, make sure you see a reputable surgeon, and for the love of god never have the “nesbitt” procedure. This involves cutting out a section on the longer side of the penis, but the nerve damage can lead to loss of feeling in the glans, and even impotence.
Good luck on your journey, any further questions just ask.
Thanks for this information! This is helpful to know. Youve stated that it didnt do anything for you, would you mind going into more details about how long you did it for? Timings etc?
I dont really want to get surgery, im just unsure if its natural or heading towards excessive. Im hoping this would help even a little bit, however im still debating going to my GP and getting it checked, however seems more noticible with an erection so unsure what there procedure is for checking ![]()
I used it for a coupe of months, every day. It can’t do any harm, so you maight as well try it. Just be careful that when using the device you don’t cut off blood supply to the glans, I found this happened a lot if i tightened the strap too tight. The glans would be numb and cold, obviously this is not good.
Also, after surgery they recommend you use a traction device after initial healing (6 weeks), so it won’t go to waste.
Did you always have this curve. If not or it is getting worse then it is peyronies disease. Completely different scenario.
Thank you for this! My main worry is it slipping off from being too loose, so will ensure i try not to over tighten it and cut off blood supply.
As far as im aware, ive always had a slight curve to the left, however it feels like its got a bit worse. I am still considering to getting it checked out by my GP just to be on the safe side
So i brought it and gave it a first go. I kinda struggled working it out but got it in the end. The problem im having is it keeps slipping off. i did tighten it to a point it did remain but i was worried it was going to cause a cut off of blood supply.
Did you experiance the same difficulty? Any advice on trying to secure it properly?
I think I just kept removing it after 20 or 30 minutes, but it was a long time ago and i’m not entirely sure.
If you have peyronies you may be able to feel a hard lump of plaque/scar tissue. I think I read somewhere that using traction can cause more trauma to the area, resulting in increased scar tissue and the problem becomes worse. For congenital curvature there is no risk of making things worse.
So the first thing you need to do is get a proper diagnosis. If you have congenital curvature then surgery may be the only option, although it can’t hurt giving traction a go. If it is peyronies there are injections to soften the plaque and help traction to do its thing.
You should really see a urologist, your regular doctor won’t have much experience with this type of thing. Also, many professionals (and the NHS) recommend a barbaric procedure called “nesbitt”. This has ruined many mens sex lives due to nerve damage and loss of sensation in the penis, escpecially the head.
I can recommend the number 1 urologist if you want, he’s based in the uk and vienna.
Interesting, ill take this into account. Thank you! Do you think going through the NHS to get it checked would work? Would they be able to confirm what it would be?
Im also considering going private as you have mentioned, but kind of worried about the costs aswell as it being a new experience
It can’t hurt to get checked in the NHS, but the wait time may be long. I had my initial consultation in London, it cost 200 pounds at the time (9 years ago). This was deducted from the cost of surgery.
Looking at his website, it appears he no longer has a clinic in London, he is now based in Vienna permanently.
