I am not new to Anal play, but have given it a rest for many months. Now that I am interested in starting up again some of the toys I enjoyed previously seem way too big, so I am starting over again.

But, the difference in size between the Medium and Large is huge, and I never managed to do it. So My question is I am now looking for a replacement for the Doc Johnson medium, of a similar size, but in Silicon, I was thinking the Small Tantus Severin, or this http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=14999
I am also looking for some recommendations on maybe something a little smaller as I may need to work up to it, plus any recommendations on an inbetween size between the Tantus Severin Medium and Large. It would also be nice to hear from any of you who have experience working up over time from small to large toys, and what the inflatable anal toys are like for stretching, to take larger toys, without any pain or desensitisers?

You're already familiar with Tantus. I've used the Tulip Large

which is great for a largish plug that you want to stay put; it's not so great for gently fucking yourself with. That large ridge can be a bear to get back out.

When I first started with anal play it was just my fingers and a 5cm wide vibrator. It's worth noting you can go quite a long way with just your fingers and since at that time I was too young to actually buy my own toys, that's what I did. When I finally could buy my own toys, I got this butt plug

A big step up from the previous plug so it took me much time and persistance to get onto it. Proper lube and raising it up a bit so I could get my whole weight down on it ultimately did the trick. It took me a couple months to get this one in, I usually just sat on it for long periods of time and that slowly stretched me out.

Even though it was half an inch wider than my widest plug before that, I managed to get it in my first time after warming up with my other toys.
From the time that I got the first DJ butt plug til the time I got that 4.25" butt plug was about 3 years though so for me at least it takes much time and effort.
Oh and as for inflatable toys. I didn't get my first one until much later on in the process and I only did so because I wanted to be able to take some of the wider and lengthier toys deeper into me. I can't say how much they help for training to get wider toys in you but it did help to get wider toys that are long deeper in me.
I must admit ive always found anal play quite hard. Maybe its a patience thing or maybe its just not for me. But number 1 always is patience patience patience oh and lots of lube. :)
