Ok, so I've been seeing some stuff on Lovehoney about urethral dilators, and to be perfectly honest the idea kind of freaks me out. I have never even heard of this and am wondering if someone could explain it to me. Is it safe?
For someone who has had endless tubes stuck up his knob (I have had an issue with kidney stones for many years) it certainly wouldn't float my boat as I equate sticking stuff up my tool to pain lol but each to their own. Having had countless urine infections (a sad by product of kidney stones) I would say this "sounding" requires the highest standard of cleanliness, by that I mean sterilising these implements before use.
I agree,i`ve had a cystoscopy,bear in mind it was a sterile environment,they used an anaesthetic lubricant and it was ok until they hit the `pee muscle` which was uncomfortable! I followed the advice to the letter,drinking plenty of fluids etc but i still ended up pissing razors for days after.I assume the dilators may not be as intrusive as a camera and therefore not do as much damage,but i`d proceed with caution! The idea does intrigue me though and i may one day pluck up courage to try it!
I have been doing this play for a few years now.
It started with using an Estim urethral electrode.
Then using plugs and sounds.
You do have to be VERY careful keeping things clean, sterile and WELL lubed.
If you push too far to fast then it can cause damage!

I may have got into it as I have a thick(1/2") ring in the end of my bit, I quite enjoy the feeling and have done it for a few years without issue, I can now slide a 13mm rod down my penis, or a smaller but longer(10-11") one in, just make sure everything is clean and keep some lube seperate for this use.
I have just tried it with/to my wife using a 6mm 1/4" sound rod, she was able to cope with it no problem, she didn't say much so guess it was OK though you cannot put it into a girl nearly as far about 3", had some fun, we used a speculum to keep everything open and easy to see/access and you can push it in to the point you may wee a bit, if you're doing it to yourself you will have a better feel idea, you wont know until you try, I think it stimulates the rear area of the clit, perhaps it's a real kink factor though, once you've finished playing have a pee(not before, but be prepared to wee yourself a bit or a lot, whatever takes your fancy?), this washes everything away minimising any risks.
This thread has made me curious,in the blurb on a lot of the toys available it says they`re good for prostate massage in some men,does this mean inserting deeper into penis,like say through bladder muscle?

Most sounds are not long enough to go this far(bladder muscle-male) and would have to be curved, but you can feel it on your prostate which is nice.
Oh,i was unsure how far down they went! As i said before,i`ve had a Cystoscopy which goes into bladder through pee sphincter,which is not pleasant! So what you`re saying is,that if you go as far as base of penis,you can feel it in prostate? As a `try anything once` person,i`m very curious!
I have two sets, one rose bud type 12" and the other 8" double ended ones, guess you need to be at the 10" mark to really feel it, if you try don't get one too small/pokey try 7/8mm to start perhaps or 6mm rose bud style, do some research regarding it, there's also a advice page here too.

So,i tried it,another item to tick off the bucket list! I tried the 8mm stainless steel sound and the rubber Master D one.I tried the rubber one first as it starts at 6mm diameter,it was quite difficult to insert as the rubber is a bit bendy,plus it`s hard to grip when lubed up.In frustration i tried the 8mm rigid,that slipped in easily and lying on my back gravity let it slide about 8 inches in,leaving 2 inches sticking out,the ridges felt amazing when gently pulled up and down my length.
I then returned to the rubber one and managed to get it 3 notches in,the 3rd notch i think is 10mm.As each notch goes in there is a strange but satisfying `pop` that feels good!
As i said before,i`ve had a Cystoscopy,which kind of traumatised me,so this was also a form of facing my fears as well as a pleasurable endeavour!
