Anyone have any advice on urethral sounding (I’m male)? I have used a 5mm silicone vibrating sound but found it a little weak and it left me feeling a little raw even with lots of lube. Does stainless steel have any advantage over silicone in this regard? Do textures make a big difference? Many thanks
@Dusty68 - when you say a little weak - were you able to fully insert the tube into your penis fully as the size you have seems big
Yes it inserted fully, but the vibes seemed a little weak. 5mm with a taper to the “point” where it’s inserted - a bit of a stretch but not massively so.
Stainless steel us easier to use as it us smoother than silicone. You’ll get less or no residual soreness.
I’ve sounded for years and currently up to a 16mm hegar sound, personally I’ve found vibrating sounds to be useless, never done anything for me.
Stainless sounds are definitely better than silicone for a couple of reasons, solid sounds are more controllable than silicone and a lot better to insert than silicone sounds, especially when go larger, also I find lube on silicone sounds isn’t as effective and can cause the sound to drag on the urethra making it uncomfortable.
If you’re interested in going large buy a good quality sounding kit, use a sound thats the largest you can get in comfortably at first with plenty of lube, using a sound too small can actually cause more damage as it can pierce the urethra if used incorrectly, I use LH discovery lube as that comes in a pump bottle and you can pump that straight in to your urethra.
To go bigger is like anything you stretch, plenty of lube and take it steady and slowly, a little bit of pushing is needed but don’t force it.
Most sounding kits go up in 1mm increments, which is a 3mm stretch, but when you get larger a 0.5mm increment hegar kit is available.
I actually started with penis plugs first and quickly got up to 10mm with not much effort, I then moved to sounding and with the help of the 2 kits I’ve mentioned its taken me about 4 years of sounding fairly regularly to get to 16mm, my large kits goes up to 20.5mm and that will be my goal in time.
Definitely stainless steel is the way to go. I started with a 6mm sound as I felt anything less was to invite stabbing through the urethral wall which is NOT advised. I got up to 8mm and is lots of sterile lube sick as Optilube for catheters, both on the sound and squeezed into the urethra for a smooth and mostly painfree experience with minimal after-soreness.
Yep most definitely, I tried silicone and felt sore afterwards, then was advised on here to try steel as it’s smoother which worked way better
@AJSTAR You ever thought of sound docking? XxX
Yes_man’s advice is spot on.
Silicone sounds will drag more and also require you to kinda push it in to insert into the urethra. Stainless steel sounds are much better for sounding with slippery/less friction surface and the weight allows you to lie on your back with gravity helping the lubed stainless steel sound slowly insert itself in your urethra (hold the top of the sound during this to control how fast or slow it is inserted). I find this makes it much easier for the initial insertion and less soreness or pain, then after this I can ‘thrust’ the sound in and out using my hand to control it as desired. I have never personally used vibrating sounds, but may or may not stimulate the same way as vibrations in other areas - I find just the feeling of the sound itself is pleasurable enough for myself. The stainless steel one I use from lovehoney I reviewed here My Reviews - #785 by MattWillTry but looks like it’s sold out or discontinued. While this ribbed design may not be ideal for beginning, 6-8mm diameter is recommended for beginners (basically as wide as you can handle the better, as others mentioned too small/pointy is the riskiest to use for risk of puncturing urethral wall).
For lube it’s ideal to use sterile lube (but you may be able to get away with regular lube…) and sterilize the sound right before use as well - stainless steel is also better for this as you can wipe it with alcohol to sterilize (whereas silicone can be damaged with alcohol).
@MattWillTry The big question I always get is “WHY and what do you get out of doing it?” Sometimes its asked in shock, otherwise its curiosity. I find it difficult to answer, it’s various reasons, like all stretching its the challenge, never thought I’d get to 16mm when I started, now I am just wanna go bigger. Then there’s the feeling, it’s a weird painful pleasure, sometimes that intense and you have resist pulling the sound out and wait till its a good feeling. Then theres the look of a big thick piece of stainless steel sticking out the end of your cock and the bulge down your urethra, especially the bulge moving up and down when fucking your urethra will it. Love wanking with my urethra stretched, thats an intense wank.
