I’m not in the UK, but had mine done 32 years ago. The biggest thing I can think of is follow the physicians instructions to take care of yourself with ice and not doing anything much physically for a couple days. That will keep the swelling down and pain at bay, what little there is. Make sure you get two clear samples afterwards to be sure no sperm are present in your semen. I noted no difference in orgasms, no difference in volume, and the thoughts of unwanted pregnancy’s made me more relaxed during sex.
It was only painful the first few days to a week. Luckily mine has not reconnected or any thing like that. It is great not having to constantly worrying about protection. I am just trying to tell my experience, I dont regret having it done. My wife could not take the birth control any more due to possible negative health effects. Don’t let me scare you away as most dont have the same feeling that I do.
Had mine last year. Wait was around nine months. For me, the most painful part was undressing behind a curtain then informing the doctor and nurse I was ready.
In terms of physical pain, was minimal. Felt ok pretty much from the day after. Abstained for 12 weeks, then it’s great!
