Ridiculous (agree with @KinkyMira).
If you brought back the ability to easily see when a person set up the account (lost when you ‘upgraded’ the forum) and took away the ability to hide profiles (another thing that seemed to come with the ‘upgrade’) then it would be back to the old system of judge for yourself whether the person is genuine or not.
I personally haven’t bought anything from LH for some years (based on price, variety and needs) but it does seem this would be another level of unnecessary silliness.

This sounds like a great idea @Lovehoney_Brenna! 
Not just for inside the forums but also alongside product reviews so that other users can have a greater degree of confidence in what they are reading.
As others have said, lets associate it with our usernames and not our real names as some don’t want to share that level of detail with the public.

It would be good if it went ahead to have it against our user names (with perhaps an option to change it once if needed or wanted) surely if we were ‘verified’ it would only need to be with LH and not have anything else shared unless users wanted it that way? 
In principle, to reduce sock puppet accounts it could be a good step.
In practice, anonymity would need to continue to be protected, and perhaps a step to verify people who buy under different emails (though not sure how that would work 
).
Also, I remember it not taking long to get to trust level 2, so fakes could persevere for a few days just to get it?
Thirdly, sometimes the most interesting topics are started by complete newbies, so i’d be wary of creating an implied assumption that all new people are fake, which may develop with the verified vs non, us vs them issue.
…I seem to have talked myself out of a yes vote here, and more into the no camp…
Would a time restriction help? ie you would need to participate for at least 12 months before you qualified for the verification?
Maybe the verification could be a number rather than a tick…… been here and taken part for 11 months you get a 11m, been here for 5 years you get a 5y

Cool idea, also helps to know that advice on a product etc… is from experience, not something else
I think it would count me out but I’m sure it’s at least a year soon I’ve been contributing here maybe I shouldn’t have said anything 
What if instead of a ‘tick’, it was something like a little basket?
Then it would lean away from “this person is verified” and more to “this person has experience shopping here”

I think that’s a great idea. LH customer is a legitimate thing, they’re not going to be fake accounts if people are using the shopping site too and also people wouldnt have to wait a long time after joining the forum to achieve this as most new users are customers anyway.
For people saying that some people can’t afford to be customers. A bottle of lube plus postage is the same as a couple of drinks out and we do only have the forum because LH is a business that’s sells stuff that funds hosting the forum and having Brenna run it and other staff doing the tech side of things behind the scenes.
I do think that for people who are clearly genuine, like @KinkyMira and others, and who are customers but buy through a partner’s account that a work around or special circumstances should be given.

LH lost my reviews, lost my profile and lost my picture, whoever does/did your upgrade last time should not be trusted in the future.
Just bring back the date the account was opened and the profile please so we can judge if it is genuine or fishing

I don’t think we can change the date, as all pre-new forum members were added here on the same day. I can’t see an option to adjust this 
I think the basket is a better choice @Lovehoney_Brenna I’d be more inclined to agree with that.
@Peitho I get that a bottle of lube and postage isn’t extortionate, but I don’t agree that someone should have to buy something just to be seen as a ‘verified user’ and therefore not a sock puppet.
But showing that they’re a LH customer is just a fact if they’ve bought something. And I’m sure anyone buying off a different account could do some sort of email verification code or something if they wanted the basket.

My point is that LH (some IT silliness) reset all profiles and removed previous profile information in the change along with allowing profiles to be hidden and removing the ‘when jointed’ display for a user. I think I was switched to hidden along with my reviews and profile being wiped.
I would guess your latest suggestion of opting in or out will trigger further issues.
If someone joins 30s before posting something silly, it used to be quite easy to see that and report it.
I agree with @Lovehoney_Brenna there are getting some odd comments and posts.
I think the tweek to verified customer and a basket is spot on.
I think personally it would also support in age verification or deletion of accounts if needed on what is a very personal open adult forum where people can talk openly about both sexual and personal intimacy.
I would support this.
