Water based or condom-safe lube/oil similar to baby oil for slipping around?

Hey all, long time no speak.

The OH is having a break from the pill so we're moving back to condoms. We really enjoy baby oil in the bedroom, covered head to toe, getting very slippy and getting it on.

Now, I know from experience that baby oil is a no-no with condoms, and I understand that is the same with most oils.

We did try using Durex Play (I think it was the aloe stuff), which was okay, but dried up too quickly and left a bit of a film.

Is there anything you could recommend for us? We want it as slippy and smooth as baby oil (not gloopy and hard to spread around), ideally tasteless (that would be GREAT!), long lasting and definitely condom friendly. Oh and another thing we like about baby oil is the price - so of course, anything cheap would be awesome (We get through a lot!)

It's been a while since I was on here and had another browse and found this:

If anyone has any experience of this that would be great to know too. I will pay £20 if it's what I'm after.

Thanks :)

I was going to suggest silicone lube as it meets all of your criteria, but it doesn't absorb into the skin at all and if you're getting it all over you you'll definitely want a good scrub in the shower afterwards! Hybrid lubes could be an option as they're much slippier than regular water-based lube but don't cling onto you like pure silicone does - Sliquid Silk is my favourite. I still think the pure silicone would be a better option, though.

Powder lubes also spring to mind as you can mix them up to your preferred thickness but I have no first-hand experience with those!

You can get massage 2 in 1 lubes, such as the durex branded ones or there's a few massages lubes on LH which warm up and come in various flavours. Anything oil based will likely affect condoms so it's best to only stick to water based products x

I'm not sure any water based lube (including the ID one you've linked) will do any better than the Durex one in terms of not drying up, tis just the unfortunate nature of water based lube that it will dry up. I'd actually worry they would be worse and be a waste of money for you as they are not intended to be used that way at all, whereas the Durex 2 in 1 ones are.

This is a small bottle but a little goes a long way, it's the most silky, thin, oil like lube we have (though lube will never feel like oil, this one is pretty close) and is intended to be used all over as a massage oil as well as a condom safe lubricant. It rubs in and leaves your skin silky smooth rather than drying out and causing residue. I would worry the small bottle might not be economical for you if you really go overboard but it could be worth a try, especially if it only needs to do you until your OH goes on a contraceptive again. Plus you could buy 2 or 3 for the same kind of price as that one bottle of ID lube!

Powdered lube is also a great idea, it works out really cheap as it makes litres of the stuff depending how thick you make it. You could make it really really thin to mimick oil consistency wise or really thick to be like a Nuru massage gel. I'm not sure how long it would stay slick but you'd have a ton of it to reapply!

I've found the ID Glide lube tended to dry out and left a tacky feeling. My preferred lube now for long-term slidiness is ID Millenium. Doesn't take much to get a slippery feeling and wearing it under latex for three hours it was still slippery. Be warned that it must not be used with silicone toys.

If you want to get slippery slidy fun then you can look into natrosol - this is what is used to make "gunge" on game shows and wet-and-messy play games. You would still need some water lube for penetration but it's great for messy play. Bit of a pain to clean up but easier than silicone lube. Reasonably cheap you buy it as a powder and them make it yourself. I add childrens powder paint to make the colour I want.

Hi everyone thanks very much for your detailed responses!

Sleepycelia & Lovebirds_x, I'm loving the powder lube idea, so we'll try a tub of that out, and I think for the money we'll check out the System JO too.

So if we were to try out Sliquid would it be the H2O version?

Brunual, thanks for sharing the natrosol idea! I'll check that out for sure. We'll take a look at ID Millennium if you feel the Glide leaves a tacky film.

Thanks!

Nuru Gel all day long 👍

I have just googled Nuru... wow! That looks incredible. Sure I've seen that in pornos before...

Regarding the Male Cobeco powder. Looked at some reviews, this person says it's not good for vaginal use as it's fructose so can cause yeast issues, boo:

But that is contrary to what LH says?

anything water based should be fine how about a 2 in 1 massage lube which is waterbased ?

Hi Kimberleyking, we do have some of the Durex Play 2 in 1, which is okay, but for us not as smooth, dries out quickly (which I have learnt from this thread is going to happen to water based lubes, that makes total sense now), and leaves a tacky film behind.

I appreciate the input!
