We Want You To See Something...

More purple than blue for me but I love purple so a from me!

Where has Honey gone? I like Honey!

I'm going to give it a while to get used to it before I make any other comments, see what grows on me and what doesn't.

Using IE on windows 7.

Even if Honey isn't staying in the logo, she needs to make an appearance somewhere!
My HD laptop monitor definitely sees PURPLE rather than blue
There used to be a wishlist link in the upper right. I can still get to it from the 'My account' page, but I liked it being right there at the top and easy to find

I've been getting a few intermittent popup errors when in the forum since using the new layout:
Error: The TEXTAREA with id or name set to "message_text" was not found

A refresh seems to get rid of it, but I thought I'd better report it.

oh, and its IE8 on XP.

There's a few things I'm not sure about:

The purple (definitely looks purple to me) is very strong which clashes with the red.

The new more professional look clashes with the "super friendly" font (imo)

The logo looks like it has a monkey's tail hanging in the middle of the heart

On a widescreen - now the sides have been decluttered (a change that was made a while back) having the new purple banner going edge to edge makes the side panels look naked.

I assume this is something that will be coming but the writing on the actual page hasn't changed colour (at least for me) so the pink and light blue (down the left hand side particularly), combined with the purpley blue and red of the banner looks a bit messy to me.

Pros:

Love the basket in the top right hand corner - much cleaner and easier to find.

I really like white writing on a darker background - looks crisp and clear.

The live chat link looks more obvious too which is good

Good start though - over all it does look fresher and more professional and useful links seem easier to find (difficult to say when I already know where they all are!)

Ooh the drop down menus from the "sex toys", "lingerie", "community" etc. tabs look great - so much tidier!

Adx

Chunky font looks much better.

The font in the drop down menus is quite small on FF

I've been playing with the fonts - found once that isn't weedy, isn't mahoosive, but still bolds out nicely. Only concern is that it has odd "g"'s Opinions? (this is IE only at the mo)

Funnily enough, we had a long debate about the blue/purple and the red combo. It's kinda meant to clash. But will talk to the design bods on what we can do about the background.

Also, only working on the header at the moment, the rest of the site is to come!

I'm running Firefox 3.6.

I'm not too sure about the dark blue myself - not a colour I'd immediately jump to when I think sex toys. Though maybe you're trying to differentiate from the competition and thats the point, I don't know.

The nav bars look and work great though.

Not sure this is the best place to say this, but I'd love to hear that the forum is getting an upgrade sometime. Seems a little dated compared to most other forums I've used, which is a bit of a shame seeing as the community itself is fantastic. Even simple additions like an 'edit' button would be nice.

Looking forward to whatever comes next for the site

Perhaps I'm being dim, but is the search bar no longer searching within the forum?

I just placed an order, and on the final page where it says "THANK YOU - Your Order is Complete: Your order number is....", there are two ad boxes, one for the love honey parties, and one for the bizrate survey. These two boxes appear over the text of the order summary rather than below or on the side.

Okay, honest opinion time!

I am not a fan of the bits down the left on the forums... New checkout is great, the menus are a lot tidier (though sometimes the drop-downs didn't work). The purple and the red clash horribly at the top, and I liked the wishlist link!

Personally I dislike the new one. I think it makes the site look a lot cheaper. Can't quite put my finger on it... The bluey purple reminds me of supermarket value packaging or badly designed finance websites? The lack of Honey there and the switch from the flirty pinks makes the site look a lot less sexual... And I can honestly say that when I'm looking for sex toys, sexual is the look I go for!

It may attempt to look more professional, but the font and product descriptions are still informal, which is a clash. Besides, the old LH's appeal lay in that it was so friendly and fun. I don't think a first time user would feel quite as comfortable buying something with such a formal layout.

Okay that is all from me. It does look cleaner and maybe more "professional" but considering your target audience, I don't think this would be a positive move for you. Nothing against the purple, I love purple, but maybe a different shade, or blend it better with the other colours... Keep Honey, cutesie it up a bit, you know?

Hi Booties - which bits on the left of the forum do you mean? I'm not sure anything has changed there.

Which drop down links did you have problems with?

Hey Booties - thanks for the feedback - really appreciate it.

I can understand what you mean about the blue/purple - it's very....heavy. Will see what Design can come up with.

We did a whole bunch of testing before all this, and we came across as "too" cutesy! Need to find a nice balance between "hey this is a fun, friendly site I want to spend time at" and "hey this is a professional site where I can shop for sex toys with the same feeling as if I'm buying a kitchen blender".

Honey....well, Honey said that whilst she loved us, she wanted to see the world, meet some new people, y'know. She'll always have a special place in our hearts.

Keep the feedback coming, I'm making another spreadsheet.....

Whoah, now you've said that all I can think is Tesco's home delivery.

lol, and there I was thinking the red white and blue was patriotic!

i'm going to do it...

i'm going to come out of the graphic designer's closet...!!!

here i go...!!!

i hated the old logo.

this new logo is nice; sleek, lovely typeface (looks like the love-child of chem symbol bold and cyne semi bold...?) nice touch with the heart insignia - but what does it symbolise?? . lots of potential for incorporating that into other branding, packaging, stationery etc...

i liked he old tag-line though... the idea of the new one is nice, but "sexy and secure adult shopping" is a good phrase that should feature somewhere on the site... also i think you can find a more sophisticated way of saying "the sexual happiness people"... it sounds a little strange..

the green search button (as seen at the bottom of the page) looks really out of place on the purple banner ~ and green and white buttons have always reminded me of discount cosmetics stores...

the colour scheme is.......blah. (and more purple looking than blue for me - on google chrome 6.0.472.63) does something weird to my eyes!!! @___@ next to the coral pinky colour used for the heart and the product tabs it makes my retinas do the crazy dance >__< maybe a slightly darker shade of the coraly pink would make it easier to look at and give the site a bit more of a specialist feel...? colour scheme can make or break a decent design, and i think you could do MUCH better than purple and pink/red.

Hey Niftyb - don't say you're a graphic designer! Design Dept will start to pull faces.

The bottom search bar wil be "changing" - can't say how yet.

I've made a slight change to the tab colours - it's still "red" though.

What do folks think? I've got another option up my sleeve but I want to see opinions first.

hey Numbers, personally I preferred the lighter brighter red from earlier, but I can see how the new darker one may make the text more visible.
