@Weeradge you are NOT pathetic.

You are a human being and we all need comfort and love. It’s nice to go down memory lane does it matter if you shed tears and relive happier times?

We all do it.

Sending you love & hugs

This is my first time seeing it. It’s one of them things we should all see and experience. I’ve got it muted listening to Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres - which was fitting as it was falling from space

Well it could have been worse, it could have been Book I!

Or Countdown, the band were invited by NASA to watch the launch of the Columbia space shuttle, and they wrote Countdown about the experience. They were seated in Red Sector-A, and used that as the title of a totally unrelated song!

I often well up when watching something from my childhood, like Thunderbirds for instance. It’s an overwhelming emotional rush for a more innocent and pleasant time that can never be re-lived but can never truly be forgotten. It’s to me a mixture of joy and sadness. I think the Welsh word for it is Hiraeth.

Watching it as well, they seem to faf about getting them out when they landed. It did make me laugh though when they said they dive crew will want to make sure they are all well before they get them out of the capsule. I presume from that if they were not alright they would leave them in the capsule. (Thanks for the help)

From the commentary early on @steve19, it’s taken seriously and many procedures have to be taken first. Risk assessments done. Debris in the water for example. Making sure the capsule is turned off, so once the door was open no water could cause any malfunctions. It did take a while to inflate the 5 balloons, which gave them better stability.

The Astronauts gave 4 greens lights, so I understand everything was fine. Rushing only causes mistakes and with something so big and in the public eye with millions watching, you can’t really blame them

Me too…looking at old photographs when I was just little back in my “home” town does it.

Crystal Tipps & Alastair…Mr. Benn…Rhoobarb and Custard & Bagpuss set me off…just to name a few.

I still have my first doll bought for me Christmas 1971 and when I hold her those memories associated with her all come flooding back. That doll was my saviour. I couldn’t possibly let her go.

I always thought it was normal to do so.

Hope you’re ok @Weeradge

Hugs

Fully understand they need to check everything. I am not a big fan of space travel as I believe the money could be better used to prevent wars/improve the world we have, living on the moon, mars is never going to be favourable. The environmental effects are massive as well. I doubt they will be able to use electric engines when oil/fuel runs out.

That’s ionic propulsion which is still in development, Artemis uses two fuel sources the cabin mainly is hydrogen nitrogen derivative and the main engines run on liquid hydrogen oxygen.

The last exploration of space powered the last 60 years of tech development and for every $ spent made $10. It should be more this time and nothing shows the damage we have done than when looking down from space.

It shows how much i know, it sounds like you are a scientist that understands fuel cells etc. i’m very impressed. @JGood

Up too early for a Sunday catching up on the news. Nice mug of tea to start the day, although would be nice to get my head back down for a couple of hours.
