What's in it for the blokes?

I've registered in the off chance of being picked, but will there be much to pick from other than vibrating cock rings for the guys? Obviously it will be difficult to cater for all of the gentlemen interested as not everyone will be interesting in sticking things in the bum bum.

And good luck to everyone who has entered =)

I believe, if I read it right last year, that if you are picked as a judge, you get the shortlist in its entirity (as shown on the application page) sent to you. Theory being if you're to judge it you really need to try all of them...

fingers crossed to everyone who's applied... including me :P

Yer sounds great, i added myself and my wife into the same one, so if i got picked i can get my other other view as well as mine :) Plus i happy to try out new things, even in places i may not like. :) Spice things up i think. But good luck to you all, and looking forward to reading the updates on whats good and not, so i can buy more.

That's a shame =(

I'll have to keep an eye out for possible magazines then. Does it have to be a printed magazine or will online 'magazine' sites be acceptable too?

Shame, maybe the form can show that men not allowed as the email i got didnt say no men at the time. Just getting the wife to add her name, so at least a chance still i guess. Thou she will get loads more fun out of it all hehe

Yer good point there :) Dont need all the men ranting lol. Oh wells good luck all anyways.

Maybe we need a masculine movement?

Burn our boxies!

I get fed up with male mags, I'll never be able to afford/want a unreliable £400,000 car, so why show me, after 30pages of boobs I do get a bit fed up, 20 girls who's fave hobbies are sex, footy and public streaking gets a bit boring too, I am just not interested in a £70 scarf or hat etc...

LOL well i am more than happy to have my pic and name shown :) Thou profile pic is different as i need to buy more from you before i start having pics, i want my sexy black leather kit on :)

The UK Sex Toy Awards is being done in association with Company online, so it is aimed at women.

All of the toys that are being sent out are under the http://www.lovehoney.co.uk/sex-toy-awards/ section on the official site, all of which are female and/or couple friendly.

The reason why it is aimed at females is due to the fact that pretty much no male magazine will touch the subject of 'male masturbation'. We like to do it in association with magazines because we then get a good group of testers - not just people who already know of LoveHoney - so it's free of bias.

Magazines such as Zoo, Nuts and Loaded treat male masturbation as a joke.
Men's Health, Arena and Esquire prefer to pretend that male masturbation doesn't exist.
Forum, Playboy and Razzle would probably take it but it would pretty much be resigned to a little side column.
Attitude, AXM and Gay Times would want mainly products aimed at the gay market, so the awards wouldn't be fair.

If you have entered and you are male, you will be disqualified from entering this time - but as soon as we find a suitable magazine to do a Male Sex Toy Awards with, we'll let you know!

Sorry Carly for going a little O/T here;

That list just made me think...

Once open a time, women's fantasies, sexual enjoyment and masturbation were seen as a 'joke' or 'non existent'.

What a turn around - and not a good one either. I suppose it's there to see though - the number of (and going out on a limb here and guessing) sales of women's toys compared to men's. The male/female ratio here speaks volumes itself.

Unfortunately I haven't the foggiest how to get this sorted, but it seems wrong somehow (not you LH - in fact you seem to be the exception to the rule - it is definitely media/general attitudes 'wrong' here.

I dunno why I am rambling; was just a revelation to me - male masturbation was traditionally seen as #the norm' and women's as taboo. Funny how it turned.

Wow that stuff about male mags is fascinating. But then i can imagine raising toys with my bloke friends and as a fair few of the toys are anal/prostate (for obvious reasons!!!) I can imagine the childish reaction *rolls eyes* It is such a pity and wasted opportunity. So come on guys, start emailing the mags you read and ask for an awards ceremony!

Oh and I'm SO reporting Ruth for photo requesting!!

Never a truer word said. According to male magazines, it's fine for guys to spend every spare second with their hands down their trousers and even brag about their masturbatory antics to their chums at the pub, but not if they're using sex toys.

The only male toys they'll write about with any regularity (although they seem to be perfectly happy to write about female toys) are blow up dolls - and that's usually in some 'Carry On' comedy context.

The other issue is finding men who are happy to be named and photographed next to male sex toy reviews. I've searched for male case studies before with no joy (everyone I spoke to wanted to be anonymous).

If you look through the forum pics, you'll see far more 'real people' shots for women than men.

Unless you guys are voluteering to start a trend by changing your profile pics to face pics of yourselves?

As I said on another topic, I think there is still a lot of stigma attatched to men using sex toys, women using a vibrator is accepted but a guy using say fleshlight is an oddball who cant get a girlfriend. Women can have open and frank conversations about their new rabbit, yet if a guy mentions mid pint down the local that hes just bought a cyberskin pussy he would be greeted with howls of laughter and shouts of 'are you going home to shag your rubber fanny?' across the room...I think it will be a long time before male sex toys are used and spoken about with the openness of the ladies

I dont use a real pic on the forum, its not that Im ashamed, I dont use a real pic on any forum, never have in 10 years of forum posting on various sites - but Im not voluteering to have my photo taken with a rubber fanny LOL
