Just finished a reply on another question related to anal so here’s the more specifics already shared, but just wanted to comment that taking your time and patience is important, as well as more lube than you think you need. Starting with butt plugs as an add-on to vaginal sex can be a great way to introduce the sensations and get a feel for the lube, and also as a way to gradually warm up to taking a penis or dildo. We really like the silicone variety pack plug sets for getting a feel for it.
Slimline dildos are great starts for pegging and after years of using a very small and skinny one I would say that longer is better for pegging if only because it allows more range of motion for the pegger without it popping out every time.
