Why hasn't Lovehoney got any highstreet stores?

Hi all, well I for one would think Lovehoney having a store would be great! Returns would be more easy, I would be there all the time lol, Even thorough I would be shy to go in and buy something lol. Yet so just wondering why they don't have a store and who thinks it would be good?

Hey Lollipop

Being an online only retailer allows us to sell a wider range of products, at a lower price. It also gives us the opportunity to use our resources in other ways, such as offering outstanding customer care, tons of information about sex and our products, videos and an online community where you can all chat.

If we had highstreet stores I doubt we'd be able to offer all the services we do now, and these are the services which set us apart from other competitors.
(Not to mention, if we DID have highstreet stores, we would either need to offer a limited range of products, or each shop would need to be the size of a warehouse to support our stock!)

"We are the sexual happiness people and we are proud to make a fun, fulfilling sex life available to everyone."

Being an online company is part of what makes us unique. We are able to offer the same excellent service to our customers worldwide, rather than focusing purely on one audience.

Returns are simple. We have a freepost address and use re-useable packaging. Instead of going into a shop, you can take your parcel to your local Post Office to send it back to us. Most customers will agree that our returns process is very quick and simple and you'll have your new product in a matter of days usually.

We offer the ultimate blend of anonymity and personalised care. Some customers dread the thought of going into a shop to buy their pleasure objects, and don't even like speaking to us on the phone. They prefer to keep their entire shopping experience totally private. For them, shopping online is perfect.
Other customers love the fact they can pick up the phone and have a chat with one of our lovely customer care team and will opening talk about what they like, and what they don't.
Being online allows us to work with each customers' individual needs and offer the perfect service, every time :)

Hi Lollipop.

High Street stores are expensive. You have to pay rent, business rates, heating and lighting, and that most expensive commodity of all - staff. This would undoubtedly mean tha LH would have to charge a heck of a lot more for their products.

And if you think about it, it is actually more convenient to buy on-line. You don't have to drag yourself out in the rain and snow just to find out that the one new toy that you really want is out of stock at the shop and wont be in until next week! And even if they do have what you want, if it turns out to be unsuitable and you need to return it then you have to get back to the shop again.

Now if LH didn't have this fantastic service whereby you can return anything with no questions asked then I might agree that being able to actually see and hold your prospective purchase before buying might be a good arguement for a physical shop. But they do, so no problem!

So no, sorry, I don't think it would be good. Purely on the basis that I would have to pay more for my toys. I'm a mean old skinflint really

Just posted this and see that LH-Jess has already posted, so apologies if I have reapeated anything

All very good points, thanks for answering me, now I don't have to wonder lol, I still 10000% love Lovehoney and would never buy toys from anywhere else. :D

Glad to hear it Lollipop, your loyalty is hugely appreciated! ^_^

But also, don't forget that you can buy swoon products in Boots.

As well as the Fifty Shades of Grey toy collection from some high street stores.

Both these collection of products are made by Lovehoney =)

And then there's the lovely Coco de Mer... although expensive, it is a lovely place to window shop in =)

Just imagining a huge supermarket style sex toy store so you could fit everything in. Id put it next to M&S :)
Just full of people completely lost having been in there for hours lol. x

Or make it IKEA-style, so that they'd have to go through the entire store before exiting ;)

I must admit that i sort of like the idea of a lovehoney shop but there are too many reasons why it wouldn't work .. Cost, stock, embarrassment (already mentioned i know) and imagine if you worked in a school for example, and the older kids were in there not forgetting that kids are at school until 18 now

We'd be the S&M next to M&S :P

I love the thought of having shopping trollies filled with tons of toys. You know when you pop into a supermarket and they have special bits on the trolly for you to stand your flowers in? We'd have that, to stop your dongs falling over! :P

And the loudspeaker annoucements : 'Can a customer assistance specialist please come to dildos. Thank you.'

'Can the store cleaner please go to the delay sprays aisle.'

im willing to bet good money he WOULD lol . after watching that sex toy tester docu thingy last night about A.S .. i most definitely wouldnt ever shop there , i never have as yet and now definitely wont , i thought it was awful how they just took those womens ideas and didnt pay A PENNY to them . i know that was the initial premise .. voulenteers . but the amount they must have made off them it would have been a nice gesture for a one off payment , even a hundred quid to spend instore or something .

Oh yes, I'm certain he would! ^_^

Love that episode! One of them manages to injure himself with a bra strap :)

The only plus sides of a lh shop as I see it would be that you could physically see what u were buying before purchase and not having to wait for the postman.
However, with lh's superb returns and fast postage the cons of price increase and stock limitations far out weigh the pros IMO!
