Me and a partner are both interested in trying some cutting. I'm having terrible trouble finding supplies online, such as scalpels and blades. Any ideas? Advice?
I dont really have any advice or such on supplies for it and im not sure youd get any on Lovehoney however what i would advise is prehaps using Fetlife and their forums? Youll have more luck on there with this type of fetish (pretty sure i saw a group on there when i was a member once) :)
You won't find any on Lovehoney but you can definitely get scalpel starter packs and things - I don't think we're allowed to put links to other stores but if you google 'scalpel starter kit' and click on the Pinterest link that comes up it'll link you to a place that stocks a lot of needle/scalpel/etc sets. Fetlife is a good suggestion too, you'll most likely find a ton of resources on there.
Please be careful and do your research!

Hi Amy may, we discuss most things openly on LH. This does trouble me a little. Not sure how big a fetish it is. Check out fetlife. Is it a vamp or goth thing. Personally not something I have ever been into at all. The only time I have ever come across it was when helping some young people who were self harming. My advice don't do it and get some help. I do know where you can get scalpel s and blades but would never divulge it especially to someone who is openly talking about self harming. Please continue to post so we can support and advice.
Hi AmyMay - As this is quite a serious and potentially dangerous topic, I did some research online for you and found the following article which I think would be adviseable for you to have a read through before you go any further. I hope this helps :) xx
"Blood Play
I cannot stress enough how important it is to practice care and caution when partaking in blood play. If you fantasize about this type of BDSM play, you should only participate under the supervision of someone medically trained or become medically trained yourself. In other words until you know how to do it correctly and safely, leave it in your fantasies, where it belongs. This is not child’s play, it can be very dangerous if done wrong and have major consequences for both you and your Dom/me or submissive.
Blood play is a very specific type of BDSM play that involves the letting, sharing, and erotic enjoyment of blood. This type of BDSM is a much heavier practice that should not be undertaken by anyone that does not have a medical or tattooing/piercing license. If you are interested in this type of play, understand that there are serious repercussions (including death) if both parties are not knowledgeable about the health concerns and proper techniques. You should not engage in blood play unless you have the training and skills necessary to do so safely.
Basic rules of blood play:
1. Never cut near major arteries or veins of the body.
2. Never cut in an area where there is a large amount of nerve endings as this can cause irreparable damage and loss of sensation.
3. Never cut in an area where skin becomes taught or tight as this prevents in proper healing of wounds.
4. Intravenous needle use should only be performed by a medical professional.
5. Always use disinfectant and antibiotic on open wounds to prevent infection and insure proper healing.
6. Piercing, branding, or scarification should only be done by a trained professional or someone well educated in proper techniques, sterilization, and aftercare.
7. Dispose of needles, knives, razors (a.k.a “sharps”) in a safe sterile way commonly referred to as a sharps container. These are not reusable items, and unless you own an autoclave at home you are risking serious blood infections/poisonings by re-using non sterilized equipment.
8. Do not lick open wounds. That is the best way to spread bacteria and infections, your mouth is a sespit of bacteria, even if you use mouthwash, it is not clean and it is not safe. If you like to ingest blood research safe transfer methods, and choose one that is acceptable to you.
9. Always sterilize the area to be punctured or cut to reduce the likelihood of introducing bacteria from the skin into the bloodstream"
Lovehoney doesn't sell scalpels and blades, but there are a few tools that they sell which can use to draw blood, for example canes can break the skin, whips too and then there are these:

Blood play is a kink. Not as common as spanking, but it is definitely recognised as a kink, albeit a more extreme kink. I am going to assume that the OP, having got to the point of realising this is her fantasy, is doing research on it (hence being here) and I agree with others that this is something that can be potentially very dangerous if done wrong, so research is key.
This kink is one of the more extreme kinks and is obviously a little shocking, which is why I think people are suggesting you are trying to hurt yourself or need help, but I am assuming you are needing information on blood play from a BDSM kink perspective and that you are not thinking of actually hurting yourself or those around you. Maybe i'm wrong but it seems you are looking for advice and where to purchase sterile, safe equipment to play with, which sounds sane and smart to me! I just didn't want you to feel wrong in your desires, but definitely keep doing your research. I know there are many people who enjoy this kink for sexual pleasure and I am just going to assume you are one of them. (
Heck....I am pretty sure there are people out there who think my bending over and allowing someone to bruise my ass with a paddle means I need professional help! lol
Scorpius gave fab advice and I recommend doing even more research to ensure you and your partner don't get accidentally hurt. I also recommend going to a class or course on needle play/knife play or cutting and learn how to play safe. I wish I could help more, but this is not my kink. I have seen it on Fetlife and again, I see someone has recommended this, to find groups that focus on your specific fetish. You could get chatting to those who share your desires and may be able to give you much more detailed advice and tips.
Kinda hope Ness sees this post, as she does a lot of needle play and may be able to give fab advice.
I though this post was a wind up, are you serious about this? This could easilly go very badly wrong.
I dont judge people on their fettishes, wouldn't want folk to judge me, my kinks are very mild indeed compared to this, probably more accurate to call them fettishes. Some on here would say tame.
Maybe i'm more naive than i thought i was but this post disturbs me
Please stay safe!
Just be beaware of blood born viruses and infection
Scorpius' response is bang on. I think that the most important thing is safety. You need to make sure that nothing is reused and you dispose of everything safely. After your session all cuts need to be treated so it is a good idea if you and your partner are both familiar with first aid at the least. Also, if you want to be extra safe you should get a box of latex gloves to be used for the sessions.
Obviously it goes without saying that if you go ahead you should do it with someone that you trust complete and they trust you. You also need to be sure that you totally trust yourself to do it.
You're already doing the right thing by researching and getting all the info. Its a big leap so don't rush into it before you can make an informed decision.

Hey,
Blood play is a very big thing, I get asked to perform it a lot, whether it's in the form of needles and cock and ball torture, cutting and scarring, and more.
As Scorpius has said some very good information, there's little I can suggest.
I did notice that there was no mention about cleaning the area before play (although I might of missed this due to feeling unwell). Always wear nitril or latex (power free) gloves too.
Needle play is a good place to start as you can get the supplies cheaply. You can also get tongs and tweezers for needle play, so you personally don't need to pinch the skin tight, just clamp it into the device. Again these are very cheap. Always make sure the needle goes point in flat, not slanted. And never panic afterwards about bruising and a bit of blood. You can develoip swelling from thyis form of play, but panic is a big no no, as you don't want to panic the person you are working on.
If you're looking to sharing blood, you will need to do extensive testing, plus I recommend getting a hep b vac. So a trip to your clinic shouldn't do you any hard, although don't be surprised if they aren't educated in blood play at all.
I will post more on this later, I've just woken up and need to go to the doctors to get some anti bs for my bronchitis.
But there's so much I can share about this, it just depends on how you want to perform blood play.
Oh also remember there are certain bylaws in place which may make certain forms of blood play tricky to perform in your county (needles etc).
Ah while I'm at it, the clamps are like these, but with a gap at the bottom (rally can't remember their name off the top of the head).
And @GG while their is a vamp fetish, blood play is a lot bigger than that. It's actually very normal, and people do it due to the hormones they release from it, plus there's a big trust factor. In some culture it's even a form of ritual for coming of age, or becoming accepted, and more =)
I feel like some comments may be a bit harsh towards the OP and may scare her off posting again.
Excellent advice from Scopious and Lady Ness though.
I myself, am partial to some blood play and I'm also in training to be a counselling psychologist and I can tell you, it's totally normal! A lot of people are into it for many different reasons. I'm really not into vampires and stuff and I don't drink the blood. I like looking at it and enjoy the pain of broken skin.
I'm more into the pain play with small amounts of blood (I have a Wartenberg Pinwheel that I was given as a gift on here). Nevertheless, my play does involve blood.
You should always aim to reduce harm, use safe, clean tools and always thoroughly disinfect everything!
The fetish only becomes problematic if it affects your daily life and distresses you.
Oh, and I should mention, I'd only do it with a long term partner that you trust and know they're 'clean'.
A always had my eyes opened, this is why we are here to learn as well as advice. My view on this is marred by helping two children who were self harming. I guess as with everything else here, if you are of consenting age and its your kink then it's ok. Apologies for any upset caused.
Amanda, you're not alone. I was an avid self-harmer from 11-17. I only do it occasionally now. However, I actually found using my pinwheel and such with my OH helps me to avoid doing it myself dangerously.

Agreed. I think one of the reasons people may be into this is that it must provide an extremely close, emotional and physical bonding. Something that is very intimate.
We usually only have our own experiences to go on. I think thats why people can have knee jerk reactions, like Amanda mentioned, it triggered her experiences and when your experience is so wildy different, it can be difficult to imagine someone enjoying that thing we have issues around. Urghh I am so tired today I can't even explain what I mean. Stupid fibro. Anyway, I hope the OP finds her answers and comes back to chat. xx
Fetlife is where you want to be for questions such as this. Blood play tends to fall under 'edgeplaying' there are many groups on fetlife under the Edgeplay title that discuss this kind of thing.
Also, if you just do a quick google of 'edge playing supplies' I'm sure something will turn up.
I feel that a lot of the responses to this post are awful! If you don't agree with someone, you don't need to comment on it!
As previous members have already mentioned a good start is to look online and on Fetlife, very little i can offer as its something that im not into as i don't like pain, but each to their own :)
Thank you all.
