Hi everyone, so, I’m feeling a bit down about my body (again) despite thinking that I might be able to learn to like it. I got a big lingerie order and tried everything on but nothing fitted or suited me. I also ordered clothes (not from LH) and none of that fitted either! I’m just fed up!

I’m usually a 10-12 on top and a 12-14 on the bottom although I know I end up needing a 16 in LH knickers for some reason. I ordered jumpers in sizes 10 and 12 - all to big, trousers in 12 and 14 all too small and jeans size 12 and 14 all too big! Not sure how I can be bigger than a 14 in trousers from one shop and smaller than a 12 in another! :woman_shrugging:

Lingerie wise, I ordered 2 body stockings but it seems I am too short and they just didn’t flatter me at all, left me feeling rather down. I also ordered some knickers and found that one of the size L/XL was tiny (no way am I an 18/20) and the others just didn’t look right.

Anyone have any suggestions of lingerie that might be flattering? I am a size 34D up top, don’t have a waist to speak of, and I have a large bum apparently (size 16ish)

I probably won’t reply until tomorrow morning since I’m going to get a big glass of wine and try to forget about it! :wine_glass:

I guess it’s just trial and error, we are all different shapes and sizes, sometimes being one size above and another below. Just know that you’re OH loves you whatever your shape/size and things you may not like he adores. I have said it numerous times here, but i’ll say it again…the sexiest thing you can wear in the bedroom is confidence, even if you have to fake it!

I’ve always been insecure when it comes to my looks, but strangely what I’m usually least insecure about is my body :flushed: Over lockdown I have gained a bit of weight, I’m not sporty so have always been a bit lanky and skinny. I’ve grown a bit of a belly and a few stretch marks round my thighs, I’m not happy with the way it looks at all but am going into 2021 trying to change that! I don’t want to go back to how I used to look as I don’t think it was healthy, but some extra weight isn’t always a bad thing.

I think at the end of the day no matter how your body looks, knowing that you’re healthy and alive is what matters and that gives you confidence.

@Kitty-Cat01, I bet your OH thought you looked FANTASTIC in most of those new items. Sizing is indiscriminate, it’s how YOU feel. Ask your OH what he thinks of the new garms . I bet he’ll love them! Nobody is perfect, but please be more confident in you.

Awww bless you.

This is why I love a Teddy or Babydoll, I reckon one of those will be perfect for you after hearing about your sizing problems.

I recently purchased this one and wrote a review today so it might not be live yet - but it’s not over the top sexy, it’s comfortable and it fits a more curvier body shape.

(I’ve just noticed that it’s sold out but should hopefully be back in stock soon)

Even if you aren’t keen on this one and want something more sexier or colourful, I would deffo look at the babydolls.

I’ve got my eye on some of these:

I always go for something that is stretchy and flattering to fit my curvy shape well.

What do you think of these x

It’s not you. It’s just bonkers how different clothing sizes can be and buying things online is such a lottery. I feel your pain!
I agree with @WillC and think lingerie is mostly about how you feel wearing it, rather than how you think others will see you. If you feel good, you will look good!
Leave it a couple of days and maybe try some things on again when you’re feeling more positive about yourself. That can actually make a massive difference.
In case it helps, I’m 5ft3 and I have a very similar body size to yours. I mostly buy bra sets that have good boob support; the Parisienne range is fantastic. I also like layering things; a corset or Merry Widow over a minidress, a harness over a body stocking. Just have fun and enjoy dressing up! Your body is amazing, it’s where you live and it deserves to be appreciated.

Like others have said sizing between shops/brands is bonkers. Depending on where I shop I’m either a medium, large or extra large. I certainly feel depressed if I’m buying extra large but have to remind myself that it the sizing and I’m not horrid to look at suddenly.

It’s depressing too when ‘small’ slips off your hips

That’s true! I have 3 different coats/jackets from the same major high st store, a medium, large and extra large and they all fit me perfectly! You know what they say about age just being a number? So is clothes sizing!

@MsR wrote a brilliant post on this topic recently: I can’t figure out how to quote something from a different thread so I’ll just paste it in quote marks here:

“Well, I have bought a solid collection of lingerie since I discovered Lovehoney.

I’ve also posted photos - something my younger self would never have been confident or open-minded enough to do.

I have learned:
When people love you they love you in lingerie too, but it is your choice about what you want to wear
Most things suit most figures very well enough
Most figures have something that looks fab on them
Taking photos helps to see how you look to others - a real eye-opener for me.

I’m quite tall and a column shape - not curvy. I still wanted to try basques and they looked ok - OH likes them on me but I won’t buy any more. I think they look great on voluptuous figures.
I know that body stockings and bodies with stockings and suspenders look better on me - you have to try before you know.
Clingy lace dresses look good on my figure but I would never go for a babydoll. Others look fab in them.
I really like how my long legs look in patterned or fishnet hosiery - I wouldn’t have know this if OH hadn’t taken photos. I’m always told that I am too thin.

That’s all! Whatever your size or shape, try what you want and enjoy deciding what suits best.
There really is something for everyone, and no harm in trying whatever takes your fancy x”

Thanks everyone, your all so kind x :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@Cupc8kes - I love the leopard print one! I have the 2nd one on your watch list - the blue satin and lace one, it’s lovely - my OH loves that one. It’s a little snug under the bust so if you have a bra size more than 34/maybe 36 I’d probably go for the larger size if you go for that one!

@Silkyhat - yes I like to layer things too. I’ll have a go at some of your suggestions, I do love a corset

My wife battles with this and has for years . She has been disabled for 14 years . The less she moves , the more weight she gains and the worse she hurts . I try and tell her I love her no matter what , but have pretty much zero luck . It has been a good 14 years since I was allowed to take her picture in any form . Myself I hate my stretch marks from when I was a body builder along with my body not being balanced from my heart surgery when I was a little guy . Sizing is a big problem across all clothing . I have to remind myself I look pretty fair concidering all my body has been through over the years . It is more of a sad statement that I look better than my son or teenage grandson . Give yourself permission to be happy with your body and if you can improve anything do so . If not , accept it .

Thanks @Oldman, Sorry to hear that your wife struggles with this too. I t can be very difficult to adjust to a change in body shape / size. I have had chronic fatigue since I was 16 which got progressively worse over the years meaning that I put on a lot of weight, I went from a size 6-8 when I was 18 to a size 18. I started to improve over the last 3 years and can now do moderate exercise. I have now lost 3 stone which is great but I seem to have reached a sticking point since I can’t do much more exercise and get hungry all the time due to the fatigue and diabetes medication. I enjoy doing weights / resistance training since it is not cardio as such but now I have an injury and have been told to stop by my physio - rather annoying because I was starting to see some muscle definition in my shoulders which I love! I think I just need to accept my body for now, at least until I get the go ahead to start the weights again.

I just read another article about artificial sweeteners and how they trick your brain to want to eat more because it thinks there is a sugar , but is not any . I had read different articles that said similar things . My wife drinks diet pop and her eating increases . She is not diabetic yet . I have been pre-diabetic for 25 years myself . I myself have had “something” my doctor and I have had zero luck troubleshooting . He ruled out chronic fatigue syndrome . I can feel tired and achey for 3-6 weeks at a crack . Feel like I am at deaths doorstep . Maybe 3 times a year . If I start working out and making headway , it hits and I lose 2 months of progress . It is a little disappointing . Hang in there !

@Oldman Yeah, artificial sweeteners are awful, I can’t eat them as they make me ill, they taste bad too so I’m not missing out! I hope you sort out whatever is causing your tiredness - it’s frustrating not being able to do things you want to do. Certainly sounds like chronic fatigue to me but then I’m not a doctor!
