As someone who LOVES being dominant in the bedroom, I love the use of restraints and bondage in general. I’ve bought most from LH now.
My favourite without a doubt is the one that keeps her hands bound behind her back, and my favourite way to use it without a doubt is to put her on her knees and receive a blowjob, closely followed by doggy.
Anyway, I’m starting to find that I’m beginning to have the same ‘go to’ restraints, and the same ‘go to’ things I like to do with each. By no means am I saying that I’m getting bored of them and I still get so much pleasure out of using them, I’m just asking for inspiration eg what you’d favourite restraints are, why, specific things you like to do with them (or specific positions) etc.
I’ve looked to buy some books on the subject too, but they all seem to be very hit or miss.

I realise that not all of these are relevant to you but thses are the things she uses on me.
I like using every day things. I’ve got nipple clamps and collar and lead, bondage tape, things like that.
But I love using binder clips, needles, cable ties round my boobs, his belt instead of the collar and lead. We’ve used long laces to attach my wrists to the curtain pole as a makeshift St. Andrews cross. Plenty of room for me to take my wrists out and the knot is undone by pulling the end.
I like to look at innocuous things around the house and see if I can make it dirty.
We really enjoy our bondage.
My wife particularly likes wearing wrist to thigh cuffs, and simple cuffs behind the back. She also really loves being blindfolded and butplugged during foreplay and sex. A spreader bar is another favorite.
I have a real love of blindfolds too, both on me and / or her depending on mood, I also love gags. Mostly I like to be gagged when she’s feeling dominant but I also like her in one when the mood is right.
If things feel samey then you can achieve a fresh feel sometimes by switching the toys, so instead of her black crotchless lingerie with her red ballgag and black blindfold, sometimes she’ll wear her frilly white ‘bridal’ lingerie with frilly lace blindfold and white bit gag with little bows on it, or maybe her kitty ears, pink gag, tail pug and some silky panties.
There’s no real difference in the content of what we are doing or the equipment but the style is different which can change the feel of it. Have a look at a bit of bdsm inspired porn for a few ideas. It can be really good to watch together (something we have recently started doing) and gets you talking ‘oh actually that looks fun, would you be up for doing something similar to me?’ or ‘oh that’s sexy, would you wear one of those / put me in one?’. You don’t have to start re-creating elaborate porn scenes, but it gets the ideas flowing.

My go to is under the bed restraints and I have recently found creative ways to use them:
-restrain only the legs and restrain the hands using cuffs above or behind the person’s back
-restrain the hands and use a spreader bar to create a more mobile restraint for the lower body
-position the body sideways but face down (as in the hands are on one side rather than just at the top). Now you have an impromptu spanking bench
-add an eye mask and headphones/earbuds and put the body in any position. Now you have added the ability to set the mood with music for the sub, get a playlist and you can affect the emotions/feelings at exact moments that you want.
-give massages while body is restrained
We also have other restraints like over the door, hog tie, etc.
Shibari is also another great thing to explore, there’s a few highly rated and simple to use shibari books and websites
Got the first six, and some others (eg bondage tape, a spreader bar, restraint to tie the hands behind the back.
Starting to think about sex furniture too with restraints built in - if only we had the space.

I like the thought and idea of having different items that represent different things. I may try to incorporate that idea!
What do you think over the over the door restraints?
I keep thinking of buying one, but then don’t really know what I’d do with it. I just can’t get excited by the idea and I feel I’d never use it.

We use over door restraints and have several. The first went with a piece of exercise equipment. We decided to exercise a little differently with it though. 
Since we have more than one have the arms spread. Incorporate a spreader bar for the feet and you have a makeshift St Andrew’s Cross kind of thing.
We also have under bed restraints, handcuffs, blindfolds, nipple clamps, and all sorts of other goodies.
One thing I didn’t see mentioned is the effect lighting can have. We have LED lights in our bedroom that can change color with an app. It’s amazing how different things seem when you change the light color to red for example. Hope this helps!!

Also, very interesting with the LED lights. I honestly never thought of that, but I think you’re right. Maybe makes it feel a little seedy, but in a good way. I may talk to her about if she’d be into that, or maybe as I do with other sex toys I’ll just get it and hope for the best haha
Thanks for the suggestion. To be fair that does look great, but all of the restraints I’ve currently got are the faux snakeskin ones on LH and I’ve kind of accidentally dug myself down that rabbit hole. I’m a sucker for continuity! Love the look of some of their stuff though!
Something different would be the art of Shibari. Since it’s using rope and knots it slows you down and makes you savour and enjoy the actual tying up process in whatever manner you feel.
Learning all the patterns of harnesses should keep you busy longer term but there’s lots of simple ones that can be done as well, and you don’t necessarily have to get in to suspension or any of the hardcore things like that, you can just go as far as you both feel comfortable with.
Have you considered playing with rope bondage as you can create never ending new ways to tie up and things 
I love my over the door restraint system. It just adds new and fun positions. I use something very similar to this:

although the one I got you could clip restraints into it and adjust the length of the part that is connected to the door.
I like it, it ads new positions, adds a more vertical style of restraint, changes things up. Getting spanked or a blow job from a vertically restrained position is super neat
