I am having cataract surgery on friday. The literature they have given me says that i am not to have sex for two weeks after surgery. Has anyone had this procedure and do they know why no sex for two weeks. I can understand why no bending down or lifting and no rubbing the eye but there must be a reason why. I suppose i could ask them on friday but it might be a bit embarrassing.
I’m sure it won’t be the first time they will have heard the question and it won’t be the last.
Good luck with it, hope all goes well
I’d guess that as with any operation you need to take it easy and give it time to heal. Bear in mind you are having a new lense sewn in, the risks from infection and knocking the affected eye are high.
Best to take the advice of the professional, don’t be embarrassed to ask them anything, they’ve likely heard it all before.
Your eyes wil pop out if you do… only joking …
It xould be a blood pressure thing or you could knock / rub your eyes accidently …
Just listen to your body … youll know when its right
Thanks everyone for your responses. I guess i could try and ask in a jokey sort of way. I just thought they might think it odd coming from an oap.
You could always have a wank, just be careful not to shoot in your bad eye!
I will tell my husband he will have to make do until the two weeks are up.
Yes @user763 definitely no sex no pushing yourself with any activities.
Eyes and cataract is a very delicate operation, I must stress absolutely No Sex.
There is a good chance of going blind but I’m sure they have told you all this.
Be prepared to be a pirate for at least 3 weeks.
I was young when I had mine done, being young things were even more delicate when I had them done.
@WillC Even that is a nono definitely not worth risking.
You literally can’t do anything and not by yourself no bending over.
Husband told me he was going to buy me a parrot and we are going to watch pirates of the caribbean at the weekend
As @Craig1234 said my guess would be it’s to do with blood pressure and increasing pressure in the eye. The hospital will be able to better advise you. Good luck!
It’s the pressure and the delicate operation as a sudden movement can dislodge things.
That makes sense, thankyou for explaining.
I will tell my husband he will have to do the housework for the next couple of weeks then. If hes getting me a parrot then i think a feather duster for him
It seems from the letter the hospital sent my doctor that i am high risk and my prognosis is guarded so just a bit worried i think it might be to do with my diabetes but not sure. The eye they are doing is completely frosty, is the only way i can put it. Its like trying to look through frosted glass and all i can see is light and dark, no colour. I have waited so long for this op at the beginning i could still see but over 10 months which is how long i have waited it has got worse. Fingers crossed.
I think it’s cause when sexually aroused the blood flow gets faster and causes pressure on the eyes and head so you might be at higher risk of bursting a vessel in the eyeball after surgery…
Opticians diagnosed me with twisted veins in my eyes and if I do anything for long periods of time what adds strain or pressure to them, some the veins show up really red!
Often happens if been watching porn and masturbating lol
Make sure that you use all of the eye drops that they give you, and stay on schedule. You do not want to do anything that will create stress, including sex. If you have had chicken pox before, it will lay dormant; and it can come back as (non-sexual) herpes. Avoid getting any irritation of your eye, and getting a herpes of the eye can be a real bummer.
I have had chicken pox and i had shingles in my forties which actually was on the left side of my head and nearly went into the eye i am having done. My gp gave me anti viral meds and they stopped it. I am getting really worried now, had a bit of a woozy moment this morning thought i was going to faint, stress i think.
Most likely to be strenuous activity of any kind until you have healed sufficiently, so you can put away those whips and chains for a couple of weeks.
