Ok, the thing is, I really love corsets- I'm really into the whole burlesque thing! The problem is, though, I'm a student, and thus have very little money, and so can't afford much in the way of corsets, because they're so expensive! Can anyone recommend a place where I can buy corsets (Proper boned corsets, not just bustiers!) that aren't going to set me back three weeks food budget?
Please help, the ones I have already have been worn too often and need replacing!
when we were students we used to buy a load of really nice stuff from a boutique called Gash come sale time, they've got a wesbite but its rubbish and there aren't a lot of deals on it. Sadly it recently changed ownership and has gone downhill since.
Shirleys of hollywood do a range of cheaper corsets which I think are quite good but again you can tell the difference. The other solution is of course to get someone else to buy them for you, I lashed out a lot of cash on lingerie during my student days!!! It was worth it though.
Ah, now there's a plan....well, I never have a problem with buying my own drinks (I never have to....!) so I suppose getting someone else to buy my lingerie is the next logical step anyway! Ha, wish me luck...
what kind of a budget might you be working on? Shirely's do seem to be coming up the cheapest really with one for 29.95 that looks quite nice stretching up to 69.95 for one that is HOT.
I got my birthday corset on ebay from a great shop (unfortunatly have deleated the item and she hasn't feedbacked me yet so I cant get the name for you.) It was £15 including postage and packaging- I'll post the link when I get the feedback. I haunt ebay. If you're there at the right time you get some right bargins.
I rarely drop on them in charity shops, but I love the thrift shopping being a student too lol.
You need the What Katie Did ebay boutique they get rid of samples and small imperfect ones. WKD are THE best corsets, much better than vollers which just flatten ur chest.
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/whatkatiedidvintage/ is the site for the ebay boutique. they make corsets and LH sell them as well but if you wnat cheap, try the ebay bit
I've written a review which includes cautions about the sizing, and which is pending review right now, but should appear soon. The short version of the caution - order by waist size, and note that the waist sizes on the provided size chart are extraordinarily generous. I have a 30-31 inch waist, am normally a size 14-16, and the medium is very nearly too big for me.
Today I published some stuff on my blog about choosing corsets, and about this corset in particular, including pictures of it:
Also, this eBay seller has amazing leather corsets at really cheap prices, even including postage from USA. One caution, don't get any with zips, busk front is much better value and way more durable. :)
