Here goes, had a bad cold for 6 days now… thick illuminous yellow snot type whats your remedies for sorting a cold out … Sex isnt a choice asthe OH doesmt want to catch it …
Drink lots of water, rest, have a hot shower of bath. And if you like it, I’ve always found that a good chicken soup hits the spot (;
Work
I find I burn through most ailments by the work I do, I’m mostly in 0°C to 10°C outdoor work about now and after 8 hrs of landscaping whatever I’ve been suffering it’s gone.
Hot honey and lemon and a couple of paracetamol. Drink plenty… hot drinks and water. Other than that it’s mostly just a case of waiting for it to go of its own accord.
Luminous green or yellow mucus can sometimes be signs of a sinus infection. If your face feels hot in places and is painful especially round the eyes and cheekbones all the time then you might want to consult your GP or pharmacist.
Yikes thick green snot points towards a sinus infection i think
Usually what gets me through things is knowing a cold lasts 4-5 days, flu is up to 7 days and anything longer needs antibiotics.
If you’ve just got a cold and on day 6 I’d say you’ve gone over the peak point so now each day you should be healing with snotty noses tending to be the last part to clear off.
Ive took 4 trees down and i crawlled away … i might be getting too old
Its probably more than a cold … but hey ho
See it worked, you didn’t mention the cold once
I do however know the feeling of crawling away from a job at the end of a day.
I allways swear by a can of sprite warmed in the microwave ……… sounds awful but does the trick for a claggy head for us
Not in the can obviously!!!
I’m in the same situation- actually said no to sex today - just not feeling well
Plenty of sleep is good for me when I’m under the weather, it seems better than just sitting about in groggy misery
Where’s a shocked emoji when you need one?!
Hope you feel better soon @batjamboree and @Craig1234
Felt normal yesterday but theres a bite to it today
Mrs W here …
The best cure is a good, strong woman (or man if applicable) to go through the whole book and sweat it out of you in the best way possible, then a really good nights sleep … works every time … @Craig1234 and @batjamboree … and in the event it doesn’t get rid of the thing, at least it was enjoyable … sincerely though, hope you get better soon … xx
Any excuse Mrs W!
My husband always used to swear by a ridiculously hot chilli or curry. Again, I think that was “any excuse”
@Craig1234 …One of the best things to help nip a cold in the bud is zinc.
Ive read doctors suggesting to take 3 or 4 zinc vitimin tabs at the first sign.
Really gives a boost to immune system.
I take one every day and hardly ever get more than a sniffle.
Zinc also very good for the libido, so very relevant to this forum.
If getting stuffed up I use saline nasal spray . I discovered years ago when I was diving that if I had a cold I could not dive , so I would snorkel ( salt water ) . I few hours of snorkeling and often my cold would be gone the next day . Vicks vapor rub priceless . Color means probable infection , I make and use colloidal silver , and ounce chased with 8 ounces of water once a day . Good old chicken soup , Gargling with warm salt water if a sore throat , then sip warm herbal tea with honey .
When you get that feeling a cold is on I dose up on vit c, freshly squeezed lemon or lime shots four times a day. Then drink lemon squash, quite strong morning and before bed.
Last sore throat, cough or cold was 18 months ago, may even been longer. I have done this for 10 years plus, incidentally never got COVID either, was tested monthly as well.
The best cure is to not catch the cold. I have intermittently used “first defence” over the last 5 years at the first sign of a tingle in my nose. I probably dodge 4 out of 5 colds the rest of the house get now.
Hot milk with a tot of whisky in it, don’t know if it works but you forget you have a cold
