I actually put honey in it as well and hubby says it does work. If ever I have a cold and make myself one he always wants one as well even if he does not have a cold.
Samantha here. Ben has a horrendous cold ar the moment. Thick yellow snot, headache, loss of appetite and zero energy which is the worst part
. He goes to work which involves heavy lifting etc and when he comes home hes exhausted. He has a day off tomorrow so hoping he rests up and can shift it. Im going to see if he will let me ride him later
. Fuck it out of him
. Or catch it myself
. Needless to say im filling him full of lemsips, paracetamol, water and chocolate (works for me).
Samantha here. On the subject of colds. How did you all cope when you had covid if you cought it? We bought at the same time and I just remember us taking loads of flu tablets to make us feel abit better for an hour so we could have sex
. Problem was, our lungs were so battered, we were having 5 min quickies and ben would collapse like he’d run a marathon
. Strange times but this memory makes me giggle.
Lucky enough to not get covid while others did and when I did catch something like a cold I just work and get my head down and on task I normally burn through the symptoms within 24 hrs.
We have both had covid three times for hubby and twice me. Hubby got it really bad first time and not so bad second and third times. When I had it it was just like a mild cold. I didn’t take anything really apart from my hot milk with whisky and honey but hubby was taking lemsips and strepsils and slept a lot.
That’s the cure my husband swears by. Not sure myself, but happy to give it a go

I feel this. School rang at 2.50pm on Thursday and said my little one doesn’t look good.
He came out of school looking as white as a ghost after doing PE and was sick after eating his tea. He hasn’t moved from his bed since Thursday night.
He’s eaten nothing since, and only had a small amout of liquid. The same thing funny enough happened around the same time last year (this was the first time he was that poorly so we visited A&E) and he tested positive for Influenza B.
Gut feeling says its the same again so plenty of rest and fingers crossed he gets better for Christmas ![]()
You know how we’ve said before we’re simpatico?
I was surrounded by Covid. For whatever reason it didn’t touch me.
Hubby goes back to the office though and I’ve had two bugs in as many weeks. I can feel my throat and chest roughing up as we speak so you might be advising on your own again for a few days ![]()
I had a funny thing that, looking back, may have been Covid - I had a “mild cold” before the pandemic began.
Like anyone with a mild cold though, I just took cold relief capsules, Lockets and carried on. There were no tests or quarantine rules at that time, so I didn’t follow them.
Sending socially-distanced hugs sweet, there’s a lot going around at the moment. I got a cold from hubby about a week ago, he’s been coughing and sneezing the last few days and guess who now has a sore throat and wheezy chest? This girl! I need to get ready for Christmas too!
I’m better this time around but no worse feeling than being helpless and just letting his body fight it. And thanks love ![]()
And that’s what school said aswell, 11 kids just in his class are off. School had a meeting Friday so apparently they were doing a real good deep clean over the weekend.
Luckily we bribe him each year with a new toy for the flu nasal spray and then he gets it done, but not without a bit of hmm and ahh ![]()
That’s it, I’m not getting my flu shot again without a new toy in the pipeline either. I refuse to grow up if I don’t have to ![]()
Did it work or require more testing? @ben85?
@Stacy2 Hope your little one pulls through soon, The bug going around currently seems horrible I’m hoping my susceptible family doesn’t fall foul of it. Social distancing hugs
to you and the family.
Can’t believe you gave @Tenshadesandme the idea of a reward for getting treatment. If I remember rightly she is to have dental work at some point. Who knows what she will ask for, for that treatment.
@JGood you know, a businesswoman is just a stickler for negotiations… ![]()
On this subject, I have read extensive reports advocating the benefits of Vitimin D3.
I take it constantly all year and have found that any bugs are fought off before developing in to anything significant.
VIT D3 is something that people with darker skin should definitely consider, as the melanin in their skin filters out the beneficial effects of sun exposure in Northern parts of the world and in particular during the period Oct to March.
The drop in vit D can leave the immune system depleted with extremely low white blood cells count.
This is not only essential for fighting bugs, but can effect the way the body deals with nasty diseases.
Speak to your GP for a vitimin suppliment plan. My Doc takes it and gives it to her children.
We had our flue shots back in October and i have a real thing for apples, normally eat about three a day. So far so good at the moment. To all those suffering with the flue or a cold i hope you all get well soon.
I normally take half a good quality multivitamin capsule daily, more as a top-up than a replacement. I’ll admit I’ve let that habit fall beside the wayside in recent months and hence, probably, I am suffering for it. It contains a lot of the vitamins people don’t usually get enough of, including vitamin D3.
This made me laugh ![]()
It’s not a good idea to take paracetamol and lemsip because there’s paracetamol in lemsip. It takes less than you think to overdose.
