Does toy packaging matter to you? I'd prefer a good bag instead!

Do you care about the packaging of a sex toy?

I have had a couple of Mon Ami toys, and the packaging is often mentioned in reviews, it is a nice box. Most of my premium toys have come in nice boxes.

However, we just got the Mantric wand, and I was delighted when it came in a really simple brown cardboard box that I could recycle easily.

We have never kept a toy box - they all go into waste / recycling.

I do care about storage bags though - I’d much rather get a nice bag to look after the toy in.

We clean toys before and after using them, and try and store them well. I’d prefer a bag to a box.

Is that just me?

I’m a yes for bags for some things and a no for others.

All my mon ami toys are in their original boxes. They keep them safe and clean, its a bit of a faff though.
My toy drawer is getting really full, I need to do a tidy and and possible a clear out. The mon ami toys usually sit on my dresser with the Desire wand amd my kinky stationary supplies haha as they get used the most.

If they’re potentially going to be used during sex, I’ll have them out of their boxes.

Bags are good for quickness, but unless they’re clear, I’d need to open them to see whats what and thats more of a faff than keeping them in boxes.
Bags for dildos though! Especially as I only own 2  The stationary supplies are in bags though :tipping_hand_man:t2:

I also prefer a bag for my toys and have also kept the mon ami in the original boxes. Found them easier to hide from the little people when they were little.

I honestly wish more toys came with their own bags! Not only does it make storing them easier, but it can help you tell them apart without opening the bags when they all look a little different.

One of my more recent toys, the realistic werewolf one didn’t come with any alternative storage option, and it’s so big that I don’t even think any of the storage bags I ordered will fit it

At the moment, I think I’m leaning towards a multi-teir make-up storage box and labelling the bags/cords to store things a little neater

I really don’t care about the packaging as I discard it as soon as I’ve tried the toy and checked that it works as it should.

The idea of storage bags appealed to me till I started to use them then I couldn’t tell what was in each bag and couldn’t find the toy I wanted so I stopped using them and I now store all my silicone and other flexible toys in transparent polythene bags.

I’m different, I care about the packaging and prefer to keep all my toys if I can in the original box they come in. I don’t use any of the bags for toys if they come with one, only when going away so they do still come in handy.
I think the packaging is important also when giving gifts and that’s not just for sex toys even though I’ve bought my friends a few toys in the past.

I tend to only use storage bags when travel/away from home type things, but even then I tend to use a bigger bag and store everything I need in the same place. I think the last thing I used a sex toy storage bag for was when I needed a 24 hour heart monitor and it didn’t have a belt clip, so I popped it in a Lelo satin bag and attached it to a belt using the draw strings.

Boxes I only tend to keep for expensive toys for the duration of their warranty

I like nice packaging but yes, storage bags are more important.
We bought some half price fabric bottle bags after chrustmas with pull string tops. Theyve come in handy for storage!

Just be careful guys…those posties know where your parcel is coming from. Hubby is a postie and finds it amusing when delivering all LH packages to his customers :joy:  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: :kissing_heart:

I appreciate good packaging - especially the shift away from plastic clamshell packaging with basically softcore porn all over it. Love that more brands are moving toward recyclable paper packaging first, then the ones that feel like unboxing a flagship phone just take it up a notch in the fun of it. But can I also appreciate the LH stuff that’s just pretty plain boxes.

I do agree with the wish that more basic toys came with their own cloth bags for storage.

It’s always nice to have fancy packaging as then you feel they taken time on the luxury and so the toy hopefully has been well invested in for quality. But on the other hand I’d probably prefer simple easy to throw away minimal packaging as you tend to end up with all these nice boxes what don’t easily store well in compact places lol

Good! I hope it brightens my posties day

Yes i think the delivery packaging is very important. I wouldnt want it arriving or left at neighbour’s with the logo on.
The boxed items. I m not really bothered as long as items don’t get damaged. Paper or bags are fine and can be recycled. Boxes often hard to open and lots plastic packaging very wasteful and im sure more expensive.

Unless I’m storing the toy inside the packaging or gifting the item then honestly… The packaging matters so little to me.

Provided the item will arrive without damage I’d be more than happy to receive it with the most minimal of packaging (provided that this packaging is more readily recycled than whatever elaborate display packaging would be)

The packaging does matter to me but only in terms of environmental impact. I prefer to receive a toy in fully recyclable packaging, no plastic film wrapped around the box (it’s not necessarily… please stop!) And I prefer something tasteful. But, other than that, the boxes generally get thrown away and the toy stored in a bag to save space so a storage bag is a big bonus when included with the toy. I do hope LH are reading these comments!

Haha, that doesn’t bother me to be honest. It’s only if my neighbours opened the box that I’d be worried! If someone knows it’s from LH then they probably buy stuff from here too so I’m happy to meet a fellow sex toy / lingerie lover.

Yep, unpack and bin the packaging, although now most can be recycled

It depends on whether the toy is a gift in which case I like to see good quality packaging and to be fair, that’s what you get with the more high end stuff although even then, it can be a bit too much. We’ve also received some less expensive toys in a quality box which, as many have said, ends up in the bin so again, as @our-adventure-bed rightly pointed out, a nice storage bag would be far more useful and more environmentally friendly.
Maybe Lovehoney could consider providing a gift wrap service?

I’m with @Deanna32 , though it seems we’re in the minority. The majority of my toys, unless I’m traveling with them, are kept in their boxes so a nice sturdy (and very importantly functional!) box is essential. Having said that, the over the top different sections for everything and pain in the butt to get the toy in and out of boxes are annoying and for this reason I actually wasn’t a fan of the Mon Ami rabbit packaging though most people seem to love it. For me there was too much of it and getting the rabbit out was a faff though as a gift it does look pretty. We-vibe have always been pretty good - not excessively large boxes and do provide storage bags if you like them. Womanizer have recently got better - again storage bags and though I keep my boxes they are now 100% recyclable (at least the Duo 2 was) if you’re not keeping the box. Personally, I love the Mantric range boxes, simple, fitted to the size of the toy and sturdy.

For me, it would be far better if the lower end toys came withe easy to identify bags as these are the ones I don’t keep the boxes for. As it is, the cheaper toys end up in the high end toy bags and it all gets very confusing!

In terms of most luxury packaging though the Agent Provocateur toys definitely win out and I defy anyone to say they throw those zip up boxes away! Much fancier than most of my jewellery boxes and compact too.

It’s very rare I keep any boxes. You’re right, I’d much rather have a storage bag.
