Douche before using a anal dildo?

Hi guys. Completely new here and have just ordered my first ever toy, an anal dildo. I’m unsure wether I should use a douche before using it or if there’s not really any need. Any help appreciated

Hi welcome to the community! You will not regret joining this site! I have had some experience in this subject and recommend reading all the advice on the site. I certainly is worth using a preparation toy or device before use, to allow you to relax and enjoy the experience. One thing I would highly recommend is this:

As long as you have a shower that it fits on, and if not this:

Take it slow and use plenty of lube! Enjoy!

Hi there @hijo921 and welcome aboard.

To douche or not to douche, that is the…etc. One thing to keep in mind about anal douching is that if you do it too often it can really mess up the health of your bowel. In order to do its job properly, your colon needs its bacterial ecosystem to be nicely balanced. Douching can wipe out that system. The gut can recover/repopulate itself after occasional wash-outs, but if you do it frequently you can leave your gut vulnerable to infection by the wrong kind of bacteria, and that’s bad voodoo!

My OH and I dabble in anal play and I’ve used lots of toys and plugs on myself. We’ve both experimented using a douche but much prefer going without, and we’ve never had any mess!

I don’t douche I usually just make sure I use the toilet about an hour before I indulge in a bit of bum fun.

Welcome to the forum, make sure you go to the toilet some time before you use your toy. Enemas are only given to constipated patients as a last resort as previous responses have mentioned you do t want to destabilise your healthy bowel bacteria’s.

Hi @hijo921, welcome to the forum

As others have said, a douche can help clear you out but need to be careful. If you’re already empty down there there’s no need for one. Probably best to get used to it with experience

Hello @hijo921 and welcome to the LH forum!

You’ve already gotten good advice and links, but I just wanted to chime in because I love anal play and have a lot of experience with it.

Using a douche or an enema is not necessary. If it would make you feel more comfortable, you can use a douche with warm water (not more than 500ml) about half an hour before play.

Either way, I highly recommend you go to the toilet at least 30 minutes in advance, lay down a towel where you’ll be playing, and keep paper towels at hand.

Our butt is where we poop from and, even after using a douche or even an enema, there might still be minor ‘‘accidents’’ from time to time. This shouldn’t deter us from having some back-door fun, though!

I don’t think people necessarily need to douche with toys. You may need to clean it a couple times before you start seeing dirtless exit and reentry but that’s not really a mood killer for me for solo play.

If I was engaging with OH, I would simply get the dirty play out of the way before we planned to have out session.

I’ve read negative health effects on anal douching too frequently. So I typically just lube up, get in there, do a check after exiting, clean if necessary, and repeat.

Haven’t had to clean a toy more than 2-3 times before I can bounce like a porn star on my toys and see nothing extra left behind.

We don’t douche for any anal activities. We find that if we use plenty of water based lube there is usually very little mess.

I typically use water base lube on my silicone toys. Kinda want to try metal or glass though. But my secret storage spots are getting full as it is lol
