Eliminating gender stereotypes in the EU

Has everybody seen/read this (entitled Eliminating gender stereotypes in the EU):

Its the first I've heard of it today and thought it was quite relevant to a lot of users here.

Its been followed up by the EU parliament blocking emails adressing the subject:

They actually think that protecting women is to ban porn? That dictating what people can and cannot do and watch is equality and protection!? I hope it doesn't go through.

I hate the sound of this, Not so much the porn thing, But to think instead of moving forwards as we have been it seems we're going backwards and now into possible outright bans or censorship!

Jesus, Its 2013 NOT 0013BC !!!

From the article:

"This initiative report, which will be voted on, is not a draft legislative measure, though it is a report to suggest that legislation should be in the future drafted and voted on.

"While at this stage it is merely an opinion formed by a vote in the parliament,..."

In most governments, it doesn't take much to get a fringe position discussed. All sorts of ideas get a look over before they're forgotten about. It looks like, as part of that discussion, one MEP is highlighting worst case scenario possibilities on his blog and that's getting media attention. That's pretty normal too, it's just that this one lends itself to sensationalist headlines particularly well.

Worth keeping an eye on, but IMO not getting worked up about. Unless of course you enjoy the adrenaline rush and having something to complain about. :-)

This is true, listening to BBC 5live, which is a relatively sensible station, and they are discussing porn now. Jesus wept, teenage boys will always look at porn, it's natural. Parents who wan't to have it banned... they are your kids, you bring them up, not the government?
