First time toy- completely lost

A bullet is a safe place to begin. My first toy was a rabbit and that was good too.

If you have a shower in the bathroom, then there are a number of waterproof toys and the shower on full blast will just about deaden if not drown out the noise. Take a water proof radio into the bathroom with you and your all set to go.

Maybe a small rabbit vibrator might be a good starting point

Hi and welcome to the forum, you will so learn this is a fantastic place

I can only echo what a lot have said that a great starter toy is a Bullet Vibrator, you will soon find out what feels good and what gives you an orgasm
Clitoral play is a must for me and I still prefer my bullet over a lot of other toys
Obviously if penetration is for you then ever a dildo or Vibrator, but i feel most woman need clitoral stimulation to orgasm
Hope this helps an remember enjoy your time alone

Wow there is so much stuff that you all have mentioned that I have never even thought about. I guess I have like a whole lot to figure out.

@Cumalot82 you mentioned the stuff in the shower or in the bath, im sorry if this is a really dumb question, but is that safe? wouldn’t like a whole lot of water get…inside?

Toys will tell you in their descriptions is they are safe for water play @Caseymyers

These are all waterproof when using the filters for bullet vibrators

I believe this is a relatively cheap and quiet bullet vibe that can be used around water

Electronic toys are usually given an IPX number that defines how waterproof it is. What you want to see is IPX7 but the most important ones are

  1. IPX4 (Splash-proof): Safe from light splashes or quick wipe-downs, but cannot go in the shower or be submerged.
  2. IPX5 / IPX6 (Water-resistant / Jet-safe): Can handle brief rinses under a tap or light water jets, but still not safe for baths.
  3. IPX7 (Fully Waterproof): Certified for safe submersion in up to 1 meter (3.3 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes; ideal for bath and shower use.
  4. IPX8 (Deep Immersion): Built for continuous deep water submersion beyond 1 meter.

It’s a possibility I guess. Not having the equipment down there, I may not be the best to answer, however I can say many women masturbate using the methods I listed. I would think that you want the water stream aimed at your clit vs your vaginal opening. Also if using a bidet, consider hygiene. Search Tushy Bidet self pleasure as they have actually written an article on using their product for masturbation.

Lol .. I follow a lot of Neurodivergent content creators and this randomly appeared tonight .. I like her dead pan delivery and funnily she’s talking about your exact same worry.

That’s what I mean- I don’t want to get an infection or anything laying under the faucet.

Hi again @Caseymyers

Firstly id like to introduce myself im the wife x

I’d just like to say if this is a concern and you are going to be worried about this, its not a good start as you will get more self pleasure being relaxed and comfortable.

Try a non penetration toy first like my suggestion of a bullet vibrator (its discreet and quiet) you can get a waterproof one

A bullet vibrator is still one of my favorite masturbating toys and gives me an orgasm every time so it would definitely be a good starting toy

I find clitoral stimulation to be the most stimulating for turning my on and easier to reach orgasm were a penetration orgasm is harder to reach in my opinion, especially if its your first experience.

Hope this helps and let us all know how you get on

Hey @Caseymyers

Welcome to the Lovehoney Forum!

This was one of my first toys, and it will always have a special place in my heart. Pretty quiet, fully waterproof, plus it doesn’t look ā€˜sex toy-ey’ when you charge it

Given the varied state of your water supplies around the US I understand why that might be a worry. If you regularly wash with or drink the water then I suspect you’d be ok but at the end of the day you need to be confident and the women of the forum are better placed to talk to you about the likelihood of possible infections.

( sorry @Lovehoney_Brenna I should of double checked there were no embedded links. That was just a copy and paste )

@Caseymyers Hello and welcome to the forums . As you can already see , a helpful place of sexually aware people . Some of us have been sexually aware for many decades . Your choices of toys is slightly better than when I started . The first rule is to clean each toy before and after use . Hope you find a satisfying toy , good luck " my fellow American " .

I’d suggest a bullet or clitoral vibrator if you haven’t used a toy before and you’ve not tried any penetration (you could start playing with your fingers before buying something for this). Personally I find wands too powerful and also rather noisy.

The toy that @Lovehoney_Brenna suggested looks good, I haven’t tried it myself but I’d trust Brenna’s opinions! Depending how much you have have to spend, the Womanizer Vibe is silent on the lower settings and really quiet on higher settings, you could easily get away with using it in bed under the covers. It’s also fully waterproof so you could use it in the bath or shower. I’ve had a lot of toys and never had one as close to silent at the Vibe. It’s expensive but it’s on offer at the moment and then you can use the forum discount code for 20% off.

To avoid anyone hearing you, I’d suggest putting some music on or the TV in the background. The sound of the shower would also cover up any noise.

Thank you, posters. I am thinking the shower is the only place I will be able to do this. I don’t have my own bedroom.

i know literally everyone says to explore things before buying the toy but i just didnt get anything when i tried it. It feels almost like… being at the doctor? I don’t know maybe there’s something wrong with me.

Hey @Caseymyers

Would you say you were mentally aroused when exploring previously? This can make a big difference to sensations and things will feel a lot less clinical!

i suppose i wasn’t. i guess part of me feels like if i dont have it figured out yet then ill never figure it out.

Everything takes time and learning and exploring is the fun way of doing it.

Masturbation for the first 5 years of my life was done in a completely different way than just straight up and down strokes because I found it more pleasing.

This is definitely not it. You will find your way.
