And now we do indeed have our own Flagging topic. Magic.
Does anyone else have any experience with flagging/being flagged that they can share?

Maybe we can test all the different ways of resolving a flag? Some might message and some might not.
And if any generate any blackmarks against the flagger/flaggee.
I really need to start wearing my glasses when i wake up and check my phone. I thought the title was “flogging” posts and it piqued my curiousity
You never know, that may well be part of the spam punishment.
@zombifiedguy now I really want to change the “flag” to “flog” and the icon to a little tassel whip
I will admit, it seems appropriate for all the bad users that may have posts flagged haha. I have now trademarked the idea/concept @Lovehoney_Brenna lol
Now you are making me feel like i need to start being naughty @Ian_Chimp
I thought that too! please do @Lovehoney_Brenna please!
Oh no, now i have images of different punishments for each number of bad posts that are flagged
Surely that should be red marks
(Quoted wrong message lol)
How’s everyone getting on with the Flagging? It seems to be one of the least popular badges, so I wondered if everyone was cool with how it worked?
I remember flagging a post and it being edited by a moderator afterwards. I don’t have a badge, but the post got the attention it needed.
Interesting. Did you flag a particular post, or a whole topic (eg. Wrong category)?
Same, I flagged a competitor link (though I did “other” rather than “break of forum rules”) I got a ping saying they agreed with the flag, but no badge.
Not that it’s too much of a worry, if I see something wrong I’ll flag it, if not I’m not going to go badge hunting
I flagged someone’s post ( can’t remember who’s or in which topic) but they said it was ok to go ahead and do it so I could obtain my badge. I remember I just flagged it as spam, must have been a couple of weeks ago or more.
I have accidentally flagged posts when using my phone due to a clumsy thumb but unflagged it immediately. Not sure if that negates it?
So it seems that to get the Flag Badge you need to Flag a post (not a topic), and it can’t be a ‘something else’. That’s useful to know.
@Lovehoney_Brenna will have to confirm this, but I think if it’s something obvious then you can tick the Inappropriate/against forum rules box (eg competitor link, photo, wank-chat, kink-shaming, etc) and Brenna can figure it out pretty quick.
Off-Topic is an easier one. And I think the Spam one includes ‘vandalism’, but that might be more appropriate for the wiki posts (we’ll have to wait until TL3 to find out about those)
The ‘something else’ ones create a message to the moderator (Brenna, and maybe some shadow lizards?). You can include a bit of context in those, but you can’t go nuts and write an essay. (500 character limit)
Still with me?
I think if a post gets enough spam/off-topic/inappropriate Flags from different people (and I think the TLs weigh in too) then the poster gets a message inviting them to rewrite their post in light of this (but with a 10 minute cooling off period, so they don’t escalate anything rashly). Their post is hidden behind a click-to-see mask, but if they edit it it after those 10 minutes it reappears.
The person (/people) who flagged it gets a notification too, so they can see if the edit has cleared it all up, and they can reflag it if not (I think?). After that, if it gets enough re-Flags, it gets hidden behind the ‘click-to-see’ until an official mod looks at it with eyes.
Has anyone had any experience of how it works yet?
Only when you flagged me for going off topic!
I edited and reposted and it then showed fine which matches what you suggest above. I think you were the only person to flag it though and I got a message straight away but I don’t think I had a “cooling off” period
I haven’t flagged anything since the new forum kicked in so have no further information I’m afraid.
Not wishing to trivialise a serious matter (I’ve been a forum moderator - I know the issues), but…
Being a BDSM-oriented soul, I wonder was I the only forum member who saw the title of this topic and clicked through, hoping to find a thread about FLOGGING posts?
