I, too, am generally quiet when I masturbate. I think it's a habit borne of necessity from my younger days when I was living at my parents' house or in university rooms with notoriously thin walls.
Sex is different. At minimum, I'll grunt and groan as the feeling takes me. If my wife and I have the house to ourselves then I'll be more vocal.
