I'll not spoil it for you !

Well, I've just watched it and I was a bit surprised at how big the market is for a lot of kinks I'd never even imagined !
An interesting programme though .

I watched and enjoyed the show. :) I love when people's fetishes are presented from an understanding and exploratory type of view.

Reading this conversation has made me look up somethings myself. Despite being an avid kinkster I found that I didn't really know the difference between a kink and a fetish. This is a good explaination I found:

If someone is kinky they are probably a fetishist, and if someone is a fetishist they are probably kinky. The distinction between the two terms is that a specific fetish may not be that kinky. For example, men who have a fetish for female breasts would not be considered that kinky by most people. Most men like breasts and find them sexually arousing so if one man really finds them sexually arousing, to the point where they have a fixation on breasts over the rest of the female body, most other people would not find this that “out there”. So what the difference between fetishism and kink really comes down to is that society decides what is kinky and not, and you yourself decide on what your fetishes are.

I think this is really helpful in my use of terminology. Now if Channel 4 can make a show about the issues and discussion points within the kink and fetish community that'd be great. Like the objectification of people within fetishes. The Great British Sex Survey looked at fetishes towards minority or oppressed groups such as queer people, BME people, disabled people (see amputees fromt the show) and the working class (note the rise in chav porn). I'd love to see a more public discussion of how feminism and kink fit together with examples like CMNF events (which I, as a feminist, have attended, enjoyed and find okay because it was about the Dom/sub dynamic); rape, objectification and degredation fantasies, etc. Slave ownership contracts too! Like can we talk about these. Not because they're necessarily good or bad but because I think it's a vastly unexplored topic which warrants discussion. If these topics were tackled people would have happier, safer, more fulfilled kink lives and would be more risk aware. It may even prevent potential abusive relationships (both play and/or romantic) from forming as so many young naive women (and men) get sucked in by predatory people from fetish sites.

*Phew that was a big ole rant*

I found it very even handed and not at all judjmental, which was quite nice for channel 4.

Liked the bit about gummi bears, and found out new words for stuff, They even delved into the backgrounds of folk, which give them more depth.

Now watching the 'Sex diaries' on gigolos, which is handled in the same tactful rather than solicitous/seedy way, like they did with the 'old age sex' series a year or so back.
