You can never have too much lube. They have so many to choose from though it’ll be tough to decide. Id probably go for the silk hybrid as I like it to look like cum but I’m wondering if 12% silicon it has in it with be too much for sex toys etc ?
all of our go to toys are Silicone so am wondering if this might be too risky…
We’ve used ky jelly, durex lub. Very similar and gets tacky.
Liquid silk is very nice, non tacky, but we have found ourselves with his and hers matching thrush which wasn’t great.
Just switched to sliquid, and it’s great. Really liking it. Absolutely non tacky, and leaves the skin actually feeling great.
So true!
Speaking off we can never have too much lube, how many bottles does everyone have spare? How much do you buy to last so many weeks/months? I had 1 bottle left so I ordered 6 more (250ml) which 1 will last a month on average, maybe a little longer.
For me, I personally don’t particularly like sliquid. I was gifted it before and I find it too thin. I far prefer liquid silk and the previously stocked lubido.
Lovehoneys lube is good in its own way, but I do find it gets tacky quickly compared to the ones above.
This is my concern @David1986H - we use one of the the sliquid lubes and it’s better than any other water based we’ve tried (though not used liquid silk which seems to be a popular choice here) but I would like to give a hybrid a go for further longevity just concerned it could damage silicon toys.
Anyone tried and tested any of the hybrids for this?
The Sliquid Silk product page says:
Key Features:
- Water-based lubricant with 12% silicone for longer-lasting, intimate glide that emulates natural lubrication
- Vegan friendly, all-natural formula suitable for sensitive skin
- Safe for use with sex toys and condoms
And this is from the Lube Guide:
What is silk lube?
Some lubricants, like Liquid Silk, are referred to as silk or hybrid lubes. This means that they’re technically a mix between water-based and silicone, but the silicone content is low enough that it’s fine for use with silicone toys. The advantage of a hybrid lube is that it tends to be more long-lasting than one that is purely water-based.
As for using silicone lube with silicone toys, the official position in the Silicone Lube FAQ is that you shouldn’t:
Can I use silicone lube with silicone sex toys?
Lovehoney does not recommend using silicone lube with silicone toys as we are unable to guarantee that all silicone toys will be compatible with all silicone lubes.
Although it has been generally thought that medical-grade silicone toys and silicone lube will not result in a reaction, there are just too many toys and lubes for us to test. Better to be safe than sorry.
Recently, We-Vibe Toys and Pjur have partnered and after many compatability tests have declared that We-Vibe’s silicone toys are safe to use with Pjur’s silicone lubricants.
But… (for what it’s worth
) I did I little real world test back in May, which you can find in the First Saturday thread. ![]()
I think the key piece of advice if you’re unsure if the lube will be compatible with a particular toy is to do a patch test on a less important section first. ![]()
I was wondering how your test went when I replied about the silicone issue. I’ll have a read!
@Ian_Chimp missed your experiment but thank you so much for doing it as the results seem very encouraging!
I did read the Lube Guide about hybrids being okay but was still paranoid. If however, silicon lubes, appear to be okay in test situations I feel better about trusting the hybrids with my collection
. Will have to give one a go.
I think as Lovehoney have officially given the greenlight then you’ll be absolutely fine with the hybrids. ![]()
The results for the silicone lube (and coconut oil) were certainly encouraging, but just remember the tests were done by a Chimp on the internet, so don’t have any official standing. ![]()
@Peitho if you want to try a hybrid lube id go for liquid silk. Its the first time ive tried it and been great so far. The only down side is the taste isn’t brilliant but it looks realistic and non tacky. I think it will be safer in the long run for your toys to go with liquid silk as its only 2% silicons instead of 12% from Sliquid. It just seems like a big jump to go up another 10% but that’s just me.
I’ve always been a fan of Lovehoney’s Enjoy but may have to make a new purchase of the Liquid Silk as it appears to be very highly recommended!
I have been using the lo Lovehoney waterbased anal lube and the h2o waterbased lube and find them both to be good for their purposes. The anal lube is good for both anal and vaginal sex I think but I would prefer something thicker for anal. Especially when using silicone toys. So am thinking of purchasing the fist it 500ml tub of lube as reviews say it is super thick and long lasting.
Sliquid do a whole boat load of lubes. We use the Natural Gel. It is thicker than usual water-based lube and absolutely fine with silicone toys.
Don’t rule out “fisting lubes” they are great for general use and are generally thicker which can help
Thank you @David1986H I followed your recommendation and bought this… I’m impatiently waiting for it to arrive! The reviews looked really good so I chose it over the liquid silk- although it was a hard choice.
@PrettyKitty24 Thats awesome, glad I could help. maybe I should order some next time as I really liked the visual look of liquid silk looking like cum which I never knew I would. Let us know how you find it, especially the taste.
So I just seen that LH has a new hybrid lube, LH Crave.
https://www.lovehoney.co.uk/product.cfm?p=42907#fo_c=24&fo_k=9ceedbad30e8bfb1fe80c04a154312b2&fo_s=monetateeapgb it only has 7 ingredients similar to the enjoy and the discover. The crave doesn’t say what percentage of silicone it has but id like to find out. After using liquid silk I can say I’m a big fan of hybrid lubes. Im guessing 7 ingredients is better than 17 found in liquid silk.
I do use different lubes for different things. My favourites are
