Lingerie Nightmare! Big boobs, small waist.

Right, well, although relatively new to the proper lingerie scene, I have already encountered far too many problems! All in all, I just think I don't have a body shape that works with any type or fit of clothing. Much as I would love to go naked all the time - think of the freedom! - I do not quite have the confidence.

Now, I am quite a wobbly podgy size 12 woman. With a relatively small waist compared to hips and a big bust... FF on my last check. And so far, finding babydolls, corsets, chemises etc that fit me or are remotely flattering has been impossible.

Although I can deal with the fact that there isn't a Pepperberry line suitable for 20 year olds - I can wait until I am in my mid thirties until clothes fit me properly - I am not willing to live without lingerie.

Bras I can just about deal with, debenhams and bravissimo will continue to provide. Well...not so much on a student budget but nevermind.

But proper lingerie! There is NOTHING that fits. ANY HELP? I am totally stuck here. Either I am left with my boobs hanging out over the top of a Medium size babydoll, or drowned in a XL that only just fits my boobs. Not sexy at all. My OH is mad for lingerie and is a particularly visual man. Pretty sure he is getting tired of old t shirts and aged pants. Someone....please share your big boob small waist wisdom!

Hi mab,

I have put a link below for Lovehoney's Buyers Guide to lingerie. To me you sound as though you have an hourglass figure.

The guide suggests, basques, corsets and bustiers.

Or if your feeling daring, you could consider a waspie for the bedroom? Here are a couple of ideas:

What about something like this with a boob tube style?

Something anyone can fit into any size?

I've found this too, and the cup
Looks a lot bigger than some of the others

Lovehoney have a brill returns policy too, so won't have no problem changing it if it
Doesn't fit you.

I have the exact same Problem I'm 1O-12 with G-H bust... I've found that I have to get sizes 12-14 if I want any chance Of my bust fitting and it leaves it baggier around my waist. I,d suggest either a baby doll because it's floaty On the bottom so you wouldn't be able to tell that it may be slightly too big for you or any other lingerie for the cups I make sure they aren't padded or even slightly lined because there is more room and they fit a bigger bust if it's a little bit if material. I have a gorgeous piece of lingerie but can't get the link yet as I'm on my iPod so I'll find the link in a bit for you :)

Oh wow, the response was unexpected, thanks guys :D

Definitely want to look down the bustier road with this. Not sure I have the confidence for the boob tube style outfits, they are not very me. Kinky&Curvy - the coquette stretch lace bustier looks amazing. I have pondered over it before, but now you have convinced me to just bite the bullet. Well, bite when I next have the money.

Cheers :D feel free to keep suggesting anything and I will add anything I find that works for me.

I wondered about the above, its backless so plenty of booby room and the ribbon ties so can be adjusted for a slim waist. Besides the odd bit of boobage escaping wont be met with any complaints Im sure.

This also has an elasticated underband to cope with a smaller body.

My struggle too!

I have size 6 waist so 8-10 clothes bag at the waist, but size 6 clothes don't fit my hips so any highwaisted clothes look silly on me as I have to buy the 8-10 sizes. And my bra size is 30F so tops and dress's never fit especially with those built in cups are a no no...

I can never wear a 'Small' sized item as the cup sizes are too small in Lingerie sets.

Bikini's and every day underwear? don't even get me started on price and finding them I'd be here all night!

Glad to see I'm not the only one with these girl problems!

+1 I have a 34C bra size. Small sized tops make my boobs look a lot bigger.

Haha we need to group together and make big boob/slim fit lingerie!! :Dxx

I would just be happy if the same bra size fitted. When is a 38d not a 38d? when it fits like a 40c or a 38dd or a 36d or.......I could go on!!! 38 is inches which is a measurement and d is the difference between your bod and your breasts so again a measurement so what on earth is going on!!!!!!!

God yes this also! Every brand of bra I own sometimes even same bras just different colour I take a different size! It is so silly xx

I just buy my bras from the same place... expensive but atleast I know they fit :) xx

I had an ex like this, she had so much trouble buying underwear! Its no fun at all

I was also going to suggest basques or corsets... Show off your puppies to their best😉

Some corset styes work better for bigger busts than others, but the general idea is great because if you already have a small waist a corset will make you look totally amazing.

If you go the basque route you'll need to make sure the cups are 'adequately engineered' for your boobs - some of the 'bedroom wear' is lacking in this respect.

I totally agree about the price though - both Mrs. P and myself are lingerie enthiusiasts and it does moount up buying for two in the better brands. But it's worth it. Hope you find some nice stuff that fits and suits you.

Corsets are definitely a godsend in this area. I prefer steel boned ones though as they have a better ability to shape to you and hold up your breasts at the same time. Plastic boned ones tend to just bend and can sag under the weight.

Sweetheart necklines tend to be better for larger breasts but straight cut can look good also, it's a bit of trial and error testing to find which suit you best. Smaller breasts look better in straight cut though. A waspie / underbust and a push up bra combination is also a really good alternative for extremely large breasted ladies.

Babydolls with chiffon floaty bottoms are also great for hourglass I've found.

I tend to buy lingerie that you can buy as seperates rather than as a set due to the same reasons as I find that most bottoms are too big if you go bigger for the cup size and then the back straps are too big too. Most of the sets are generally for A-C cups, D at a push anyway.

As for other clothes I find Jeans are a nightmare to buy. If they fit my waist then don't fit my thighs/hips (we don't all have sticks for legs!) and if they fit my thighs/hips then they are gaping round my waist. Now I've lost weight I wear stretch skinny jeans to combat this but finding normal denim jeans is a pain, they have to have some stretch to them or it's a no go. I have found one pair by accident at a local charity shop that fit amazingly but they are designer £90+ jeans (yes we have some amazing charity shops where I live). I have the same issue with trousers and end up having to go for wide leg styles.
