For me, making the jump to toys is all about the new sensations as you said, and the hope that I can reach more of an handsome free climax but stimulating new areas.

There is nothing like being able to masturbate toy free, it is simple, easy and if needs be quick. Toys take a little more planning and time. Having said that I love both options. I suppose I am 60% toy free
No vary it as time and location allows. Some of the powered toys are noisy and therefore not suitable at times, where as the use of a flashlight or simply your had is more appropriate.

As for what makes me choose one over the other, time. Nearly always time.
