Lovely marbling effect, @Kinkypup. I’ve never tried foils. What’s the procedure with them? Do you apply them like water transfers and then lacquer over them or something? Tell me all - I’m clueless!

OK, I’ve just watched a nail foil tutorial video that made the process seem unbelievably simple. I bet it’s not in real life - not if Brenna’s experience is anything to go by! 
- probably one of those things that’s all about “once you’ve got the knack…” etc.
Tempted now. 
You need foil glue (it looks a bit like PVA), wait for it to go tacky and then you sort of smush it onto the nail and it transfers over to the nail. At least that’s what I did… and it worked about 40% of the time

@Lovehoney_Brenna thank you so much!! I found that they went on super easily! I made sure to put white gel underneath so it would blend in well with the marble. I also used a foil glue that you have to cure under UV/LED first so that might be it. And dabbed the foil on any spaces that it didn’t take to first time (mainly around the edges.

It must be user error then… as I was a grumpy gluey mess by the end

@PleasureDrone I used mine with foil glue that cures under UV/LED along with gel polish/base coat/top coat. Also if you get the mirror kind make sure to test with different top coats first because certain ones like to dull/crack the mirror effect. I found putting my gel base coat over the foil seals it nicely then go in with a gel top coat

@Lovehoney_Brenna with how lovely your nail pics usually are I wouldn’t jump straight to user error, maybe glue error
I use the Makartt nail art foil glue from amazon. Just to warn you it does smell super strong though

I was just wondering how many of you match fingernail colour with your toenails? I rarely do this, I’m more of whatever takes my fancy !

@wildflower - If I ever painted my toenails, I probably would match them with my hands …but my toenails are such an unfortunate ragbag of awfulness, I don’t ever feel like drawing attention to them!
Meanwhile… OMG! Would you try this??? I think I would!

Kept watching in the hope we would get to showing us how good a job it does. If it does a decent job though then absolutely… sure it foes better than I do myself anyway!

Yes, the video’s a bit disappointing, isn’t it? I thought we’d get some detailed footage of the process in action, but it’s 95% just that guy banging on. Maybe there’s some better footage out there somewhere.
D’ye know what I can see coming as a future thing? Obviously, right now this equipment is expensive - possibly only available on lease to people who run salon businesses. But… as tends to be the way with technology, it won’t be too long before smaller domestic machines are available for home use.
I’m particularly thinking what a boon it would be for a disabled person - someone who has muscle weakness, paralysis or a tremor, for example, for whom doing their own nails is pretty much physically impossible. Imagine being able to strap your hand into a small harness/jig, tell the machine what colour(s) you want and just let it do its thing, at a fraction of the price of a salon visit…

Hey I’m all for robots helping out with my nails! On enlarging my toenail pic I noticed bits where I’d gone over the edge of the nail… and I was wearing glasses to do it too!

Its like a much bigger version of the nail painting machine in 5th element 
Your right though, for people who maybe cant afford a full manicure regularly but want nice nails or cant do it themselves due to maybe shaking hands etc, it sounds good.
Not for me, id rather do my own.

New topic of conversation. Here goes…
I can hardly believe I’m asking this. Lately I’ve begun to notice a thing about me - a quirk, if you like - and it’s this: more often than not, whenever I have the time, I like to do my nailcare/painting while naked.
I’ll just let you chew on that one for a minute. 
I don’t mean that it turns me on or nuffink - it’s not a sexual kink thing (might be fun if it were, but it’s not ). The scenario goes as follows… I’m out of the bath, all towelled dry but still cooling off, not yet ready to begin getting dressed …and I start looking at my nails and thinking “this is the perfect moment to choose a shade and get you babies looking pretty.” So I do.
…except, from a purely practical standpoint, it is anything BUT the perfect moment, cos - obviously - as soon as that first brushful goes on, I am trapped: committed to staying naked, unable to touch any items of clothing until my nails are reliably dry - which, as we know, can be quite a while. And heaven forbid that anyone should ring the doorbell in the meantime!
And yet it just feels so RIGHT. Kinda like this is my special, private, pampering sesh, where the only bits of me getting adorned are my nails. Go figure…
Anyone else do similar, or is this just a me thing?
