Porn showing strangulation or suffocation is going to be made illegal

I read in the news this morning that online porn showing strangulation or suffocation is going to be made illegal in the U.K. under the Online Safety Act. Possession or publication of this (soon to be illegal material) is set to be a criminal offence on par with child sexual abuse and content around terrorism.

I won’t share my views on that type of content (scroll through my messages enough and you’ll figure it out quick enough) but I am slightly worried of where the line will be drawn between what is and isn’t ‘moral’.

Personally all for it.

I find that stuff degrading and abusive.

None of the few partners I’ve had ever expressed in interest in this.

It’s awfully prevalent in porn, and I defo wouldn’t want my kids, or anyone else for that matter, to believe that this is how you should treat a woman, or how a woman should expect to be treated.

It’s a long game of playing catch up with technology these days.

I can’t see the authorities getting it 100% right, but like age checking for porn website, I’m glad to see the law trying to catch up with the situation.

Alot of the videos are done with consent and safety. Im open minded and believe everyone can have their own interests even if they arent the “norm”.

I know alot of people who are into this and post their pictures etc on various sites.

I think the government is going abit overboard with blanket approaches.

Scary, started as a pitch to save the children from NSFW content, then migrated to also save the adults from what we determine acceptable, that’s based off a report that includes things like humiliation, degradation, or things considered “misogynistic” I feel it’s a slippery slope I’m not saying that all this content is to my taste, but it’s dominos, by the time it’s done it’ll be “Watch this married couple have missionary with an emphasis on consent and taking things slow” will become more like a sex ed vid then pornographic. Adults can have a fantasy whilst also recognizing this is not Reflective of real life.

This is concerning as certainly for us what goes on in the bedroom is wholly removed from our real life. So, we don’t need to be saved from porn

For example I love being dominated in the bedroom and doing as I’m told. Outside the bedroom I’m a contrary little madam, and H and I are firmly on an equal footing.

Are the government worried about the young, easily influenced cohort? Educate them from their teens, banning certain types of porn won’t change their attitude or mindset, knowledge and understanding will.

I think a ban is one thing and whether you’re for or against it is a matter of personal opinion.

Also… CNC is fine, but choking isn’t? Ok… I guess.

What I’m really surprised, and more concerned about, is the repercussions of being ‘caught’ with it.

I guess I’ll also have to go through my old homemade videos.

They see it as abuse and not a consensual situation. Cnc is consensual by its very name.

Dont get me wrong, i dont agree with rape, abuse, degradation etc. but some people out there enjoy the idea of these things and choose to engage in them.

My point is that consensual acts in porn aren’t the way people assume they are.

Lately it doesnt seem to matter if you enjoy being whipped or rough sex, they just decided that the act alone is abuse regardless of the reasons behind it and decide its wrong.

Are they going to ban horror movies and crime dramas that have these scenes in it?

So it turns out that choking was made a criminal activity (even if consent was given) in 2022.

FYI for those who, like me, weren’t aware.

I can help but wonder how many people engage in actual choking as opposed to a gentle/firm hand across the throat?

How will the law determine the difference?

We dont do any of that so it is not a concern for us.

Also I suppose what constitutes choking? Is that just by strangulation or is face fucking included in that? I mean blimey I choke sometimes when giving hubby a bj.

I’ve gone down a rabbit hole.

Apparently it’s: ‘the infliction of serious harm which results in actual bodily harm (ABH) or other more serious injury or worse, will make a perpetrator liable to prosecution.’

This may be beneficial: Consent to serious harm for sexual gratification not a defence - GOV.UK.

So if someone accidentally strangled someone or they choked to death the other person cannot say they gave their consent as their defence when charged with manslaughter of possibly murder?

Whether they die or not it seems consent doesn’t apply.

I must admit that I knew it didn’t in cases of serious injury such as brain damage/death etc, but not as a general and overarching rule.

Id get a good lawyer if i was you lol.

Someone should also tag the recent facesitting thread.

So if someone wanted to get their own back on a partner say for having an affair then they could report their partner for choking them and the fact that consent was given would not be a defence.

That’s a fair point. A bit of deep throat can bring on a bit of choking for me too.

My H doesn’t ram my head onto his cock excessively, he’s sensitive to my comfort and safety.

Not something we do so no worries, and I have never sat on his face.
