I have kept out of this debate until now.

Fundamentally, I totally agree about children, but I totally disagree with how they are attempting to do this. If the age verification scheme was done in a way I trusted, I’d do it. I just don’t trust them, and what they will do with the info.

But I do totally get where @Analizer is coming from. We’ve seen this before. One thing gets stopped, then the next, then the next.

The problem is the law is notoriously crap at judgement. Any law where judgement is involved is open to interpretation and abuse.

Take choking as an example. The first sign of a hand on the throat, I’m disengaged. For me, a turn off. (No judgement, I’m sure some of the things I like are turn offs for you). However, a rough face fuck or deep throat and choking / struggling to breathe because of a hard cock, total turn on. For me, they are two totally different acts with two totally different responses.

You’re absolutely right: quashing people’s kinks will not stop them engaging in them. In fact, quashing them puts more people at risk because people will get curious and want to try things, and where are they going to go if they don’t know who to turn to? Porn with choking will still exist, but it will become a black market good. I think it’s one of them situations where it’s easier to just ban everything and hope it works out well, saving money in education etc.

but it causes confusion for some people who think fetishes are wrong or they need to stay quiet or get punished, which is really sad. Sex should be explored and enjoyed if it’s safe and consensual.

soffocation is a bit much, i dont know why someone would get turned on by that, but strangulation is a bit of a grey area, on one extreme its a rope tied around the neck, or doing a chokehold.
