I joined last week, and I have just remembered that anyone can read these posts. You don't have to be signed up.
I've just thought - am I giving too much away about my identity? Can some outsider work out who I am, which I suppose wouldn't bother me that much, or worse, recognise things I have said about my former partners?
That might embarrass them, which wouldn't be right, because they never asked to be talked about on a public forum.
What to other members think? Has anyone been found out?
Your right that anyone can read them, but unless they are on the site and know you are a member i think its very unlikly that you would be rumbled.
If you are worried just be careful about what you say, mentioning names ect.
My hubby is a bit paranoid about stuff like that - identitiy stuff, but i just say, so what im only talking about sex and buying stuff to make life more pleasurable, not downloading child porn!
Does anyone else know about your love of brown sauce - could be a givaway! x
The LoveHoney forums are a public place for discussing adult matters.
You don't have to be a member to read what is said, but you do have to be a member to take part in discussions.
When you become a member, you give LoveHoney your e-mail address, which is kept absolutely private at all times - even we won't e-mail you unless you give us explicit permission to.
Your e-mail address is not visible through your profile or your posts, so nobody can contact you other than by replying to one of your messages.
When you become a member, the only other compulsory piece of information that you need to provide is to choose a screen name. When you do that, we advise you that it shouldn't be your real name (for obvious privacy reasons).
If you choose, you can enter more information about yourself such as your age, marital status and gender.
So in answer to your question "am I giving too much away about my identity?" - no! All that anyone can work out about you from your profile is that you are a straight, divorced male who goes by the nickname Walrus.
Whether people can work out more about you from what you post depends on what you post!
Poor love, it seems you didn't get much sleep last night.
You have indeed answered your own question. I too have privacy issues and worry how much personal information I am disclosing, but it is just up to us to be sensible (ha!)
i agree with the above, its all about how much you give away, i have used my real name as my screen name but how many mels are there in the world????? so i think im ok on that one
