Rant Thread - Get it all out here

I agree! I won’t buy sanwiches or certain other products from M&S cos they add smoked bacon to them, i don’t mind smoked bacon, but i find it overpowers the other ingredients. Plus they add it to their steak pie, i want to taste steak not smoky bacon in a steak pie! Don’t get me started on salted caramel! Just give me caramel, i’m bored of salt now!

I don’t like any condiments at all so trying to buy a salad sandwich without mayo, salad cream, mustard, or any type of gunk is almost a no-no…

Why not make them plain and have an optional sachet of your choice?

And totally agree @WillC regarding the salted caramel… It’s everywhere…it’s spoilt some of my favourite desserts with the stuff…

Yeah they think it’s sophisticated to salt caramel, to me it’s just needlessly complicating it and ruining the concept of caramel! Oh for the days of a Golden Cup! :face_savoring_food:

For a treat now and again I will buy an Aldi sandwich, they’re cheap, well filled with plenty of meat and unsmoked bacon and the bread is soft and moist, can’t beat them! Their wraps are nice too!

Over here in the states , the smell of pumpkin spice is everywhere . Walk into a grocery store of coffee shop and it almost knocks you over .

Ooh Golden Cup brings back some memories! :face_savoring_food:

Totally agree with the dislike of salted caramel and I hate the overwhelming taste of cinnamon in things too.

Hot cross buns and some teacakes have become almost inedible for me now because they seem to have an overload of cinnamon in them. I can’t even stand the smell of it!

I won’t eat anything with cinnamon in it! It’s ok as a scent at Christmas, but that’s it!

Golden Cup, Aztec, Supermousse, Amazin all chocolate classics! :face_savoring_food:

@Oldman fortunately in the U.K. we are spared the smell of pumpkin spice!

Try Aldi!

Mrs W here ….

Agree with @MsSubExperimenter about why is mayo peppered or seasoned so much these days…… and another is bloody brioche rolls….. Pen and I went out on a Saturday and smelt frying bacon so we each got a bacon roll…. bit into it - YUK it was a brioche roll!!! Went back and asked for a normal bread roll to put our bacon in, they said they didn’t have any as everybody prefers brioche…… we ate the bacon and put the brioches in the bin … ffs  :face_vomiting: xx

I’m glad we’re pretty much spared the pumpkin spice!

Yeah brioche buns are everywhere now, similar to salted caramel they’ve been foisted upon us, despite their being nothing wrong with normal bread rolls or buns!

But i guess the word brioche adds a bit of “sophistication” and therefore they can charge more!

That’s another bugbear of mine, needless descriptions of food products like Sicillian lemons, Madagascan vanilla etc. Does a Sicillian lemon taste any different to a lemon from anywhere else?

Also “Farmhouse” cheddar! It’s mass produced and been nowhere near a farmhouse!

Brioche buns are just not right with bacon! They’re too sweet. Give me good old white baps anyday :face_savoring_food:

I got a bag of salad from the supermarket, wild rocket they called it - why ‘wild’? I’m sure they didn’t go out foraging it for the supermarket?

And so many hair and beauty products claim to be 94% natural but then you look at the ingredients and they are 90% water so it’s less than half the other ingredients that are actually natural :person_shrugging:

Also in agreement with @WillC and others about salted caramel. It was an interesting novelty the first time, now I just want a normal caramel but it’s so hard to find!

But I have to admit (rather sheepishly) that I am one of the brioche lovers. Not sure it works with bacon though, that needs to be a traditional bread roll, preferably a crusty one with real butter.

Nah, brioche is too sweet for a savoury item like a burger or bacon butty!

The only normal caramel chocolate nowadays is a Cadbury’s caramel bar and they aren’t as nice as they used to be! Plus the one’s in a tub of Heroes are vile, they somehow taste burnt! Different process, recipe and production lines i guess.

Had a Mars bar for the first time in a couple of years on Sunday and I really didn’t enjoy it, just a mouthful of sweetness with no differing flavours or textures between the chocolate, mallow and caramel.

I have to have butter on a bacon sandwich with toast or on a buttie…as I don’t “do” condiments…the “look” I get when I ask if they have any…

:scream::scream::scream:

I have to have butter on hot dogs, burgers or bacon or sausage sandwiches. If it’s between two pieces of bread it HAS to be buttered. So I’m with you on that!

Mrs W here….

Yep definitely butter must be included on anyfing with bread….. @WillC @CurvyJilly

Yes @Kitty-Cat01 , Brioche alone are fine, but just wrong as a bacon roll love ….. xx

Agreed. I’ve never had one with bacon, that just doesn’t work! Love them with a burger though, sorry

I may be the odd one out here, but I LOVE bacon in a brioche bun. I really like the whole sweet and savoury combo

I have also been known to put honey and ketchup on it when I’m completely hungover :face_with_hand_over_mouth:
