I’ve registered my interest as a sex toy tester.
It appears that I need to review between 7-10 toys that I’ve bought before I can get my hands on free stuff in order to review them!
The thing is, I don’t own that many at the moment!
I’m going to waiting a long time
If it helps, you can review items you’ve purchased elsewhere (as long as you don’t mention that in the review). So have a think if you’ve purchased lube, condoms, books, novelty goods etc elsewhere and see if Lovehoney also sells them
I really don’t think it’s unreasonable that Lovehoney want to see your writing style and the quality of the reviews you write before sending you free tester items.
They certainly don’t have to be glowing statements of how great Lovehoney products are, it is far better if they are absolutely honest, practical reviews. They need to be telling potential buyers the stuff about the products that they’re not going to know by reading the product descriptions. They need to be giving insights from a users point of view. I think it’s absolutely right that Lovehoney know this is what you’re going to provide before sending you testers.
As @Calie says, you don’t need to be reviewing premium, expensive items. Most people need lube, cleaner, other essentials like these. Reviews for these products, novelty items, underwear, etc. all count towards your total tally of reviews.
I think the review I most enjoyed writing was for the Bondage Boutique Clip, inexpensive but essential for what I needed and showed my writing and reviewing style.
You’ll reach your needed reviews quicker than you think.
I didn’t realise that, which explains why I’ve never been chosen for free stuff.
We barely have seven sex toys in the house.
I would ask other members how many they own, but - judging from what I’ve read here before - it would take some people the rest of the day to count them all.
Hello,
I don’t currently own 7 sex toys. Just two butt plugs.
It’s possible I’ve have, over the years, used 7 sex toys but I couldn’t tell you what they were.
I would also add, it’s also good not to rush through your reviews anyway. Write a few, maybe get some feedback, then write a few more, and so on.
Have a look at the sets Lovehoney do. Often many of the products are available individually so you can review the set as a whole and then each of the toys.
Sign up to the emails and follow their social media for notification of offers so you can get the best value (it will be Black Friday before we know it).
If you were interested: How many sex toys do you have?
Muchos Gracias!
So, in other words, you joined the site to get free stuff?
Doesn’t work that way.
I think I have written reviews of 20-40 toys at this point that I have bought at Lovehoney. I have never been sent any testers no matter how much I have asked or responded to requests on this forum
But I also live in Canada and I think most of their testers are in Europe.
That being said I don’t mind either way. I have so much stuff now and I love the sales and stuff Lovehoney does.
Respectfully, I think you need to consider your application. It sounds a bit like applying for a job with a cover letter that says, “I have no training or experience suitable for this position, and I’m not that interested.”
LH have a small tester program, which ultimately hinges on it being part of their general brand and marketing - it helps sell product and keeps us engaged as a community and loyal to the brand.
From my POV, I think this is brilliant, and LH have it nailed - I really appreciate their efforts, and I’m thrilled when I get picked as a tester. But I also try and earn the privilege - I’ve spent a small fortune on LH and me and my wife are highly enthusiastic testers. We love spending time putting toys through their paces, trying new ones and sharing our experiences.
DJs get sent a lot of free music - but they have also spent more on music than anyone else and have a burning passion to share their love of music. That’s why music makers value their opinion.
I’m a bit of a sex positive / sex toy evangelist and I know that being part of the forum, trying toys, and working on our intimate relationship has done wonders for our marriage. Our kids are constantly embarrassed by how lovey dovey me and my wife are
There is some good advice from others here about how to write reviews - everyone has different styles but I think the most successful have a clear passion, demonstrable experience and their own insights into what makes a toy or lingerie good or bad.
Writers like @Peitho, @Calie and many others have really helped me when looking into toys, and the effort someone like @For_Your_Eyes_Only_x will go to with lingerie photography makes it easy to see why they are successful testers.
Purchased elsewhere but LH also sells same item you mean? I have 2 items from other stores because LH doesn’t sell them, they do have similar though!
To add, i have purchased quite a bit from love honey, my 1st item i sweated like mad that the postman would be saying heres your dildo Mrs Candy! But once i seen how secure the postage and tracking was i have stayed loyal to LH.
I have tested some items but I only ever put myself forward for something i am genuinely interested in or really want to try, i would never want for the sake of just because its free. I am happy as they are items i will continue to use and I genuinely put effort into my written reviews.
I also have a few allergies so i am limited to some toys so i dont put myself forward for many *lives in hope for more glass toy testing *
To original poster, I would look to adding to your collection via purchasing, small items count too, then you will have enough to hopefully get chosen
Yes, purchased from elsewhere but LH sells the exact same product. Sometimes toys can look the same but have subtle differences, so the thing you love/hate about the toy might not be present in a different brand’s version
Reminds me i need to review the last few toys i got…
Not that im particularly interested in testing, but i find reviews so helpful in trying to decide if a toy will work for you or not!!!
I believe in paying that back for others to benefit too.
