Second lock down?

So many rumours going around about a possible second lock down thought it’d be rude not to mention it on here :joy:

Rather than being all gloomy about it, are any of you looking forward to it or got any projects lined up?

I’ve been neglecting a project to get a Hornby layout setup in the loft so suspect I’ll be spending more time up there if we’re not heading out and about as often.

They will try at all costs to avoid as the economy couldn’t handle it
Plus they won’t shut school again

But yea I think it’s the best option

We’re not bothered, don’t do socialising nowadays and we’ll save money on cafes and petrol. We found some great new walks nearer home in the spring, could picnic in peace and quiet at the end of an airport runway and the weather was fantastic. :sun_with_face:

Hi I am working as normal but in my job I train people from all over the uk , I am planning in my work in October with a view that we will be in lock down again, so project managing stuff that I can do online in the future with the learners. I have done so many jobs around the house on the first wave not much left to do and not much money left, but if it means we are safer at home then happy to be at home! I fear the worst when you see people out at night without and social distancing being respected makes me weep for all the workers who have not been furloughed and for all the other NHS police and key workers:pray: Just hope that we can control it better this time around.

I do of course feel sympathy for all those suffering, but no longer make myself miserable over it too.

A second lockdown would be a disaster for the economy, we’re going to be paying for it for a long time to come but if, as reported, there is to be a possible second lockdown then we’ll just have to accept and get on with it or many thousands more will suffer.
I hope that those people who have chosen to ignore the advice so far and who may or may not be responsible for the recent increase in cases take a good look at themselves and start to consider others.

As i worked through lockdown, it won’t affect me personally as i get to socialise with my workmates and chill in the house after. I do worry about my OH as she was furloughed and it got her down. It also meant a lot of her R.A. treatments were suspended. Currently she is lined up for two days in hospital over a fortnight having infusions of steroids, anti-biotics and a chemo drug, subject to blood test results. Her fear, is that another lockdown will cancel them again, and her mobility will suffer and her pain be out of control.
So i hope there isn’t another lockdown, fingers crossed.

I’m not fussed either way. I am okay with social distancing because people :joy:

I’m not having all my hospital appointments, they’re done over the phone.

Only thing I’m missing is swimming and going to swinging and fetish clubs/events. :sob:

Just ignore annoying suggestions but has she looked at inflammatory effects of sugars and carbs and benefits of turmeric?

@Serpentwand yes, she’s tried all that and more thanks. :+1:

I can’t say I’m looking forward to it but I’m not dreading it. I’ve worked the entirety so that side of things doesn’t bother me, although I work in the learning disability field and the impact it’s had on our guys and the restrictions to their lives is unimaginable. Just got to ride the wave!

Hmm I didn’t mind lockdown the first time, but things have only just got back to “normal” at work and I really don’t much want to be kicked out again and made to work from home full time. It had its perks yes, lost a lot of weight from having the time and energy to work out every day but oh it was boring.

Hi @WillC I’m in the same boat with my RA. I’ve been in a flare up since February, I’ve slept most of the year and been unable to do anything. I stupidly came of my immunosuppressants and trying to get my injections has been a nightmare. Hope your wife is doing better x

@Purring-Pussy sorry to hear that. She still has to inject methetrexate every week, as the tablets were making her have mouth ulcers etc. She has had steroid injections to tide her over, but they’re not as effective as the 6 monthly infusion treatments. She takes strong painkillers including oral morphine when it’s really bad. She recently went back to work, which is good for her mental health and keeps her mobility up. But she is very tired when she gets home. How do you get your injections @Purring-Pussy? My OH’s are delivered by a medical courier.

Mine too are delivered by a medical courier. Can understand the pain, I’ve been on oramorph as well as fentanyl patches but GP won’t prescribe them anymore.
Had steroid injections and epidural in my spine but they’ve never helped other than on my wrists.

@Purring-Pussy yes they are very wary of addiction to morphine based meds. My OH has had wrist and knee ops, which have helped. It’s just a bitch that Covid has prevented the effective treatment, but i can see why they don’t want immuno compromised patients at the hospital. Hopefully she can get her treatment in before the supposed second lockdown. I hope things improve for you too @Purring-Pussy, you take care. :kissing_heart:

I live in the states and the one i’m in has been post lockdown for a while and no rumors of a another. That said it’s been getting cool here so I’ve been baking and will be doing more of that. I love cooking but baking is hands down my go to.

I actually really enjoyed lockdown, minus the no wadge , but actually spending quality time with the family was well needed.

I can only imagine :frowning:

A friend from the US tried for ages to have kids and they (three) are all autistic.

It makes the issues we had with my one pale into insignificance.

Hopefully your kids will manage to stay in school and they can have their outlet (and you can have some time to recover).

Probably already know but if shes on methotrexate make sure shes prescribed folic acid as the low folate levels can be what cause the mouth ulcers. Im my mums carer she has RA so I’m pretty familiar with it too. Hope they can get her stabilised the methotrexate has been a game changer for mum
