I get what you’re saying, but the laws the law @Scottishfunk, people should be staying at home and staying indoors. Not rebelling like some revolution.
Morning Will, I know right, the whole thing is a disaster right. Yes I’m lucky and I’m able to claim enough to keep me going, but I know so many in this industry who can’t and won’t be trading by the end of the year.
But Dunelm is open, so I guess I should stick it to the man, rise up and rebel, don’t conform and all that bullsh@t, and go buy myself a new cushion
@Blonde_Bunny you think just like me. People forget why this is happening. I came so close to losing one of my parents to covid last month. I was only able to support the other parent (shopping, cooking daily meals to drop off at the doorstep) as I had obeyed the local lockdown and not been in close contact with them for 11 days.
I’d rather tow the line and have no guilt about giving it to someone vulnerable x
But what is the endgame?! If no vaccine comes through, is this how we live our lives now? Few months of restricted freedom then house arrest again like being on some evil merry go round?! Sooner or later people will say enough is enough.
I feel for you. My own business (in the entertainment sector) has been wiped out since March but I’ve had no help from govt as I have a part time job as well. Thankfully been able to keep everything at home ticking over.
It is frustrating that my business is closed yet others choose to flaunt the rules for their personal gain.
My husband had a job interview offered to him, onsite. When he queried whether they should be holding it inside due to the lock down, they said they didn’t feel the lock down was relevant to their plans, and if he wanted the job, it was an onsite interview. He declined. He was furious though, as he’d been hoop jumping for months.
I agree with you some folk do not take this virus serious @KinkyMira. They work on the basis it will not happen to them. I really feel for the businesses that cannot trade. I don’t think track and trace will ever work as apps don’t work on all devices and there are too many folk giving false info to prevent them being contacted.
Yet it is very unfair on those of us who are trying to obey the lockdown, particularly those who have conditions that make them concerned about the virus.
As much as I am not a supporter of our current Government, Cindy did a pretty good job with communication of the covid strategy including (for the most part) clear rules and guidance on what was allowed and when. Over time there were adjustments, but the initial rules were always on the side of health / caution as opposed to any economic cost/damage that decision may cause.
Granted, its easier in our little side of the world, with a population of 5mil odd spread out across an area 2-3 times the size of the UK (I think?) and our “biggest city” with a population of 1.3mil people is no where near “dense living” of others, but if you take a cautious approach to your own well being including good sanitisation, social distancing and a mask, you can control (to a degree) your own risks. If others aren’t controlling theirs, then the consequences are on them…
My work team have done really really well so far with everything covid related. We’re a relatively small team of 17 and have all worked our arses off throughout it all. This week 4 people have been signed off sick with stress/depression/anxiety and another walked out on shift today. I think the impact of it all, and no end in sight, has hit everyone. My manager is exhausted, my team leader confessed to hiding how stressed he is, and today I worked my second 15 hour shift in 3 days and still have indents in the side of my face from the permanent mask wearing despite taking it off 3 hours ago.
It’s time for everybody to check in on others and share the love. You really don’t know how much it could mean to somebody

And now with others off (understandably so), it means there’s more hours needing to be picked up by already overworked staff. Difficult one! I now have four days off and aside from a routine covid test today I’ve said I’m going to chill and take the time off and not go in. Back to it all Monday
