I wasn’t sure where to add this and it doesn’t deserve its own thread so I’ll dump it here.
I’ve used several other Discourse (the forum Software/platform used for this forum) forums, and one thing they have is an “AI summary” button with a symbol.
Is it possible to get that added as it would be handy for some long long threads.
Hi @ObnoxiousPython , I’ve moved your suggestion here as it’s a more appropriate place, and more likely to get seen by @Lovehoney_Brenna here than in the Lounge
For those of us who are neurodivergent in one way or another and have trouble recognising correct spelling, any chance of a spell checker built into the forum?
I read this thread that suggests discourse doesn’t have a plug in, although maybe something like the newer Discourse AI - Helper could be configured[1] which supports proof-reading and might be helpful
I thought it did a!ready. When i type up my replies if i spell something wrong it underlines it in red, then if you click on it a pop up box appears listing what it thinks you meant. It doesnt do it immediatly you have to give it a moment to think about it. You just click on the right one and it replaces what you wrote with the correct spelling.
That sounds like a browser based checker. Which would only work when accessing the forum via PC or laptop. I know Google Chrome has one. Maybe @Ian_Chimp knows more about it
I don’t know if something has changed in Firefox or you’ve worked some magic but I’m getting spell checked! Love it. So now I look marginally less stupid.
Can you do anything for grammar?
If that was your doing @Lovehoney_Brenna .. Thanks!
If it was someone else could you thank them too.
How about a “topic randomizer” or “surprise me” button?
Sometimes I’m bumming around the forum and it feels like everything on my front page, Unread, or New Topics is stale or the same. But every once in a while the suggested Topics at the bottom of the page links to something older or unexpected. I think it would be great fun to have a link you could click that would take users to a random topic.
Advantages could be waking up unique dormant topics, stumbling upon idiosyncratic or otherwise obscure conversations, and finding ideas or suggestions that you wouldn’t think to search for.
Disadvantages could include bringing too many duplicative topics back to life, frustration or confusion with replying to users who are no longer active. Missing anything?
