Poetry Round :scroll::rice_scene:

Can you identify these poets from their words?
(extra points if you can name the poem :+1:)

  1. Sexual intercourse began
    In nineteen sixty-three
    (which was rather late for me) -
    Between the end of the “Chatterley” ban
    And the Beatles’ first LP.

  2. The fucking scene is fucking sad
    The fucking news is fucking bad
    The fucking weed is fucking turf
    The fucking speed is fucking surf
    The fucking folks are fucking daft
    Don’t make me fucking laugh

  3. The free bird thinks of another breeze
    and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
    and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
    and he names the sky his own

  4. Nobody heard him, the dead man,
    But still he lay moaning:
    I was much further out than you thought

  5. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
    And sorry I could not travel both
    And be one traveler, long I stood
    And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;

  6. If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;

  7. Five million bags were six feet long
    Five million bags were five foot five
    Five million were stamped with Mickey Mouse
    And they came in a smaller size.

  8. No man is a man all through.
    I’ve seen you. Shivering. Fleeting weakness. Cold rain scuffing its feet on the beaches.

  9. You know this world is complicated, imperfect and oppressed
    And it’s not hard to feel timid, apprehensive and depressed.
    It seems that all around us tides of questions ebb and flow
    And people want solutions but they don’t know where to go.

  10. They went to sea in a Sieve, they did,
    In a Sieve they went to sea:
    In spite of all their friends could say,
    On a winter’s morn, on a stormy day,
    In a Sieve they went to sea!

And here's all ten if you need them, (but jumbled up, and with an extra five thrown in 🙂

Extra Bonus @Peitho Section

  • He sipped at a weak hock and seltzer
    As he gazed at the London skies
    Through the Nottingham lace of the curtains
    Or was it his bees-winged eyes?

And a clue if you need it 🙂
