The Great Pub Quiz Game Thread

True but the question just says man, doesn’t disclude a male god!

 I would have said a god can’t be a man, but I’m happy to open it up to the group?

What do we reckon? Can Will have January as being named after a man? There’s a half point hanging in the balance…

No need, i’m just pulling your leg!

I think (:crossed_fingers:t2:) I’m owed a half point for :green_heart:3…

And congrats to @WillC! :clap:t2::clap:t2:

Thanks, a lot of educated guesses this week!

Ah crap. I’m not sure I spotted you put May in instead of July. This :green_heart: round was a ball-ache. :slightly_smiling_face:

:green_heart:1 I gave a full point for specifically ‘two heads’ (bicephalous and ‘two heads are better than one’), and a half point for ‘heads’

:green_heart:2 Bit easier. I accepted singular or plural for a full point.

:green_heart:3 Half a point per correct month

:green_heart:4 Full point for specifically 2.2, half point for 2(ish).

:green_heart:5 Full point for ‘ante meridiem’ (and close enough spellings), half point for ‘aunty meridian’.

I’m surprised no-one has mentioned :yellow_heart:1… :slightly_smiling_face:

Okay, I’ve checked your scores @SexInTheCity, and I think I did it right. :+1:

  1. ½
  2. 0
  3. ½
  4. 1
  5. 1
    = 3

Oh damn, it was :green_heart:1 that let me down then. I thought I’d got a whole point for that. For some reason I read the question as what “two are better than one” so just wrote heads.

The crown shall not be split today :broken_heart: although I’m just chuffed I’m over 20 to be honest… A very rare day!

I was torn, but @FL45H got it spot on - and I thought there were enough clues in the question to back it up.

If it’s any consolation, everyone but FL45H wrote ‘heads’ too, so would get an extra ½ point. Meaning the scoreboard positions would stay the same.

I think everyone who gets over 20 is a winner anyway. Perhaps we could change the scoreboard system to allow for more ‘winners’?

Nope, definitely just the one winner.

Congratulations @WillC !

@SexInTheCity I did exactly the same with the two heads thing :woman_facepalming:t2: and as far as :yellow_heart:1 goes @Ian_Chimp , I was told last time if split between two answers I needed to pick one… unfortunately plumped for the wrong one this time. I was just very happy with over 20, definitely count that as a personal win

Thanks!

I am instantly swayed by your surety. :slightly_smiling_face: One winner it stays.

I mean, jamming in as many guesses as you can seems like chancing it, but I am open to alternative scoring systems. :slightly_smiling_face:

Google says Christopher Columbus is probably not buried in the Dominican Republic, but rather in the cathedral in Seville. The Dominican Republic, however, are quite adamant that he is there, but refuse to check. :slightly_smiling_face: And he may not even be Italian after all. :man_shrugging:

:yum: I have only ever put in two but was told off last time and will always pick just one now however I’m still going to show full working on those questions to at least gain some kudos :joy:. As to this one in particular I have no expert knowledge whatsoever so raise no objections on this occasion!

Choosing one does make scoring a bit easier. :slightly_smiling_face: But I am genuinely open to suggestions.

So, can @Peitho have partial marks for multi-balling her answers?

As with all good quizzes and some rubbish ones too… .

I have to take your first answer.

Haha, I like that answer @FL45H!

And I am in agreement for just the one deserving winner (mainly because I’m so competitive so it makes winning all that sweeter).
Although my chances would improve greatly if the entertainment section was banished :joy:

So, no Scoreboard or rule changes. :+1:

I feel better when the rules are peer-reviewed, it takes a bit of the pressure off. :slightly_smiling_face:

If I trade in any of my flying bananas do I get points added to my score

Unfortunately, much like real bananas, they’re pointless. :man_shrugging:

Though saying bananas are pointless, even as a pun, feels as if I’m betraying all Chimp-kind. This is quite a quandary.

Well now, if you have to take my first answer that was Christopher Colombus! (Joking - definitely settled on Marco Polo) My point is I will still multi answer some as it’s my thinking process but am happy to stick to the rule of picking a single one to submit :+1:
