Thanks Will, I know a little bit about your OH’s medical issues from previous posts and I know I’m not in anyway in the same situation as her, basically just wanted to indulge myself and write down somewhere anonymous what was going on. In fairness, I am feeling better today than I have most of the week so I think the steroids are maybe starting to do their job of suppressing my immune system 
I have type 1 diabetes which is an autoimmune disease but is very well controlled and nothing to do with what is going on at the moment but apparently means I am more susceptible to other autoimmune stuff. Tests continue.

@Peitho I’m so sorry to hear that, it all sounds awful. Hope they get to the bottom of it and you’re able to go home soon.
Don’t feel guilty at taking up an NHS bed…you’ve got just as much right as anyone else to get treatment and I’m sure if the doctors didn’t think it necessary they wouldn’t be keeping you there

Thanks @wildflower , I work full time, I pay my taxes but I’m pretty sure over the years I have definitely taken more out of the NHS than I’ve put in!

I’m more at home with rocket science! Hospital rules allow 1 visitor, 1 hour, once a day and my Dad came to see me yesterday (first time I’ve seen him since Christmas Day!) You may think I have just taken this whole thing a little far to get around lockdown rules .
OH work’s Covid rules wouldn’t let him come in but he dropped some stuff off for me at the start so I’m all set for books, entertainment and wash stuff and booked a few days leave end of this week so he can come in probably Thursday which will be great
…Also, I have awesome yard buddies, one of whom facetimed me for a chat with my horse last night so I’m very lucky, I have good people around me.

I’ve also got that ‘thing’ you asked for. I’ve charged it, and given it a good clean. I don’t think it’s as quiet as you hoped it’d be though? Are the people on your ward understanding/hard of hearing?

Conversation between another patient and nurse last night:
Patient rang bell…
Nurse: “Everything okay?”
Patient: “I need something to shoot a donkey”
Nurse: “Um, I think the donkeys’ are okay”
Patient: “Okay then, thank you”
Later, part 2, with another nurse this escalated to the nurse didn’t have a gun and that authorisation would have to be obtained prior to any shooting of donkeys. It was eventually agreed that the donkeys were protected and shouldn’t be shot. I think I’m sicker than I thought though as I havn’t seen even a single marauding donkey! 
End result, volume probably not an issue around here but clean pants are always welcome!
