@For_Your_Eyes_Only_x It’s not a ridiculous fear and you’re certainly not alone in it. I used to be petrified of spiders, I had nightmares about them. I’d always check around the bedroom before going to bed in case any were lurking around! I still do that to some extent but I’m not as obsessive about nowadays.

I’m not sure what it is about them that creeps me out, I think it’s the black spindly legs that some have and the speed of them! I have conquered my terror to some degree by forcing myself to eject ( harmlessly captured in a plastic tub) them. That really only came about because of the times I was alone in the house and there was no one else to do it but maybe it was a good thing because it forced me to take control. It’s taken me most of my adult life to get to this stage and I’ll admit they’ll never be my favourite creatures.

@For_Your_Eyes_Only_x understand the fear but the spiders only trying to replace your boyfriend whilst he is in isolation. Its trying to take advantage of the situation. I hope you find it but they seem to disappear into no where.

@For_Your_Eyes_Only_x and anyone else who is freaked out by spiders: you can’t help feeling the way you do (although if it’s hampering your life, there are therapies available and they work).

Meanwhile, may I issue a plea for mercy on behalf of our arachnid friends (yes - friends: spiders are good for your home and garden!). PLEASE don’t let fear make you cruel. Instead, buy a spider vacuum-catcher. It will suck the harmless critter up and enable you to release it outdoors, without you ever having to touch it. It’s a win-win deal: you get to sleep in peace and Spidey gets to live!

Ah you’re all so kind! Very comforting to know I’m not the only one :see_no_evil: I ended up sleeping on the sofa. My sister came over this morning on the hunt for it but to no avail! I might brave it and sleep in my bed tonight :joy:

@Green_Eyed_Girl how did you go on today hun with replanting the cabbage :leafy_green:? Have you been able to do it? Watched gardeners world but no good without monty IMO . :hugs:

I’m not scared of them but I’m not a fan of them crawling on me :joy:I don’t like killing them either and normally throw them out! I was on the couch one night though around 2am and saw something move, I jumped up and put the light on and it literally stared me down! Could see it’s tatts it was that big haha it was walking toward me so I was huffing and blowing at it to try make it run away but it kept coming :joy::joy: not too sure it’d of stayed out while I ran for a pirex brown to cover it and a sheet of ply to put under it with it being so big :joy: I’m sure I felt it push my foot up a touch as I squashed it :joy::joy:

Edit- also I’m sure it’s wishful thinking that it made itself to the back of the house! It was probably one of its mates :joy::joy: sorry :grimacing:

@Gazza_64 Still trying to get to buy nematodes, will do it today. Dug eveything up and gave it a bloomin’ good scrub :grimacing: hopefully that will help in the short run. Some of them look fine (oddly) its just a few of them.

Dont know if its too late to plant some elsewhere or not, getting the plants might be tricky now sadly as its getting hot.

All this talk of spiders has just reminded me of how I smashed my phone up a few years back :see_no_evil:

I’d just got out the shower and wrapped myself up in my towel. I had a call off my friend so was talking to her when I felt a tickle on my shoulder. I assumed it was my hair so went to move it out the way and saw in the mirror it was most definitely not my hair but a mahoosive spider. Probably the size of a pint glass rim :flushed: I screamed so loud, flicked it off my shoulder and threw my phone in the sink. My friend came round as she couldn’t get back in touch n thought something terrible had happened :joy: Every time I shower now I shake my towel and check both sides before using :see_no_evil::joy:

Oh god that sounds horrendous :flushed::joy: I think I’d of reacted the same way to be honest though!

I don’t know why these little things spark so much fear in us but I can’t stand them. Any bigger than a money spider is a nope from me :joy:
