Thanks for the explanation. As I said previously, I suspected that was the case.
It just seemed that recently, we have had far more new members that have stayed with the default “userxxxx” name than before.
Have a nice day x
What about if you wanted to rank two toys as equal importance? Like bullets and glass dildos joint first place then wands and finally rabbits? I mean, I would rate an actual rabbit much higher but not a fan of the toy ones!
Okay… I found someone who was kind enough to explain it to me very slowly.
The rounds are automatic and are triggered when there isn’t a clear majority in the current votes for any one option, at which point the other preferences kick in and perform a run-off across as many rounds as needed.
Okay, sorry for the slow response, my last week has been manic and I wanted time to read about it properly.
So…if I’m interpretting the link correctly… the system seems very good and would be a great way of deciding election results so the most popular party actually win each electorial seat and your vote and ordering of parties carries through. The difficulty on the forum is that every time a new person votes it can drastically affect the result so the rounds and eliminations are irrelevant until all votes are cast. It would work well for polls with a set time limit for voting, I think, is that a thing?
My issue with the example they give on your link is that they’ve said, somehow with their 5 ordered example, only 6 different orders were chosen. 5! is 120 so I think they’ve over simplified the example. With a computer to do the maths though, I think it’s a great voting system.
Yeah, I think that’s what initially threw me about the rounds and the elimination. But I think it’s actually the same as the other poll types in that currently x option is in the lead but more votes could change that (like the bar and pie chart versions). And then when the poll is closed it’s more of a final result.
You can set a close date on a poll though, so it is also possible to have one ‘for a limited time’ too.
I did also notice a new option for all the poll types to add and remove options later, which is another interesting addition.
You have to find the duck, if you find one, double click it. You will find a winning one. Add your name to the wiki post. And you can earn a Ducking Amazing badge
…though, I still now want to steal your button and make it a link (if possible) so in posts where I recommend products, I can link to my product review with a button!
